TG is saying the system cancelled the flight and as far as they are concerned we have no reservation. Korean is saying no everything is fine have thai call is. Damn.

I seem to understand that I need to have TG "associate" or manually input my ticket number in the reservation but the Thai CSr says she can't see my reservation at all. How do I have her pull up my rezy if she cant see it?

How long is everyone waiting to book R2 locating flights? I am supposed to fly in early May and would like to get things squared away soon so that award availability doesn't disappear.

If you are using mileage, why wait?
If plans change, just cancel and redeposit the miles.

I assume it's due to the redeposit fee (due to no status). If that's the case, I would still book (and have). Just view the $150 liability as the cost of doing business.

All recent R2's seem to have gone smoothly.

If booking an award, why not just book it to RGN with a stopover in BKK?

Most of my miles are on OW, haven't seen an option to RGN but I guess I could call. Really could do without BKK as was in HKT last month. Maybe so what we can do about KUL

For now its Dragonair only from HKG, but when MH joins next month, there will be another option

Completed R1

Happy to report a success on my R1 on TG and KE. Spent a few days in Myanmar, amazing country. Yangon is alright but if you have a chance, fly to Bagan. What a mind blowing place! Biked around for two days and never got tired of finding out more pagodas. Definitely recommended. Eat at local places, most of them have english menus. Locals are helpful and friendly, surprisingly people speak English pretty well. Wish I had more time to explore other cities in Myanmar. Will definitely go back.

Exchange money at the airport, it's almost the same everywhere in town.
I don't recommend exchanging money on the street though.
Try "Mohinga", traditional Burmese fish noodle soup. Although I have to say Burmese tend to overcook their noodles. Also have the traditional Burmese food that usually comes with unlimited vegetables sides, some are spicy but very good.

Did OLCI for the 7:40 pm TG flight, ended up going to the airport earlier to try to catch the 2:45pm flight. Agent switched our flight with a big smile, she just warned us there might not be meals since the flight was catered in BKK. She also gave us the exit row!

KE boarding passes were printed immediately in BKK, no question asked!

Kal First Lounge in ICN is a joke, food was alright but the alcohol is almost non existence. Nasty malbec and a choice of white. Whiskey and a limited few options.

Their inflight service is excellent though! Glad I got to try out their A380, we were the only two in First. The only down side was the cabin was kept way hot.

Thanks again OP!

FWIW, I'm starting my R1 in a few weeks. I recently went to the Consulate in NYC to get a visa. There was no line and the people processing visa applications were very helpful. Processing time is 7 days and they only take cash. I can't wait to g!

We must have been drinking from the same bottle of red wine in the BKK lounge - it was probably one of the 5 worst wines I have ever had, hands down. Agree with you on KE service though, outstanding!

Just completed DL-plated R1 (RGN-BKK-FRA-JFK) with no issues. Spent 2 days in Yangon, which I found to be a dump. Massage queue in BKK was around 30min.

Friend done R2 with no visa: flew into RGN on Vietnam Airlines, who had no problem checking him in after seeing proof of same-day connection. Was questioned upon arrival into RGN and then escorted into the lounge. I will probably do the same for my summer R2.

Again, thank you, VIE380

Stop calling TG and email their lax reservations right away & ask them to manually associate the record locators with the appropriate ticket numbers. They will email back saying everything in order and should be no problem for travel. This way you will have written confirmation and if anything goes wrong you can refer the TG agents in RGN or BKK to the email.
