FYI, I work the UNGA detail and as a supervisor with NYPD I can assure you its not the NYPD's fault. We are at the mercy of these heads of states. We have zero say and little advanced notice as to their exact schedule and time of movements. We do however, need to put pedestrian freezes in effect so that when they are ready to move, we are ready. That takes time. I'd love to get into more detail but I can't and I also know that it is a huge inconvenience for the general public, but its not the NYPD's fault..its like saying a flight is delayed due to weather and blaming delta for not knowing exactly when the flight will depart
You read into something that wasn't there.

I doubt you know exactlyhow the NYPD works it. Also, You make it sound like its the NYPD's fault for not having any idea. While I realize we are on the front lines and most visible to the general public, we fully come to expect the public to not understand the way these big events work and will just accept the blame.

Because I was talking to the secret service agents, they identified themselves as such, and had the lapel pin.

Plus, you really shouldn't be bothering the help.

Reads more like you ran into EOD3 team assigned to arrivals and departures as no Protective Division agent was assigned to Ukraine's PM

I went to the wingtips lounge after and there were secret service escorting another woman. These were protective details assigned by the US Secret Service for particular foreign dignitaries.

We walked about 100' down the sidewalk and jaywalked across.
ISTR that when NYPD bottled up Union Square Park some years back, it ended up paying out large amounts to victims who sued.
If the guy telling me I can't cross an empty crosswalk with a walk light is NYPD, then I blame NYPD. You might want to suggest to your superiors that this will not look good on Youtube in the future, so they ought to find away to avoid False Imprisonment of innocent pedestrians.

It is a big deal to New Yorkers, but not in the ways you might think. The UN GA throws up so many barriers that it can impede pedestrian access. On Wednesday I find myself suddenly trapped for about 30 minutes walking home from work. Nothing like not being able to go in any direction, and the NYPD not having any idea as to how long one will be stuck.
