I’ll entertain wagers that the MAX will (eventually) fly again, but it won’t be called the MAX.

I'm having DC-10/MD-11 flashbacks.

I expect they will just be called the 737-7, 737-8, 737-9 and 737-10, with MAX dropped so as not to draw attention to the name.

The ICAO codes will probably stay the same, though - B37M, B38M, B39M (not yet assigned for 737-10).
As will the IATA ones - 7M7, 7M8, 7M9 & 7MJ

And when it's over and the dust settles it will be a topic of intense study in every MBA program in the country, if it isn't already.

I sincerely hope so. That way they may be too preoccupied to "help" businesses they don't understand.

Just noticed that my April YYZ - BGI has been changed out for a Max8 from a 700 series.
Makes me a titch uneasy. Also I have booked exit row seats in Row 11 that are not exit row seats in the Max. I know I could call to switch them but wonder if the Max will actually be a go by April. Anyone else have flights switched to the Max 8?

I would be willing to bet a lot of money that you will not be on a Max in April.

I concur, still many hoops for Boeing to jump through, apart from the technical review(s) by the FAA there is the public perception, this airplane will not fly unless it's proven to be bullet proof and then some....and if/when it finally does get to fly again the media will hype every loose rivet & flat tire so that the spotlight on the Max will be intolerable for airline PR departments...
Too bad really, I liked the Max the few times I flew on it...

Except that for those Boeing diehard airlines, the price for Airbus airframes just went up "regular price plus 15%"

I'm sure lines of communication are always open, I was told they almost bought the A320 in the early 2000s and almost bought the A330 instead of the 767 but Boeing swooped in both times with offers they couldn't refuse.

The A330-900neo and A350-900 were evaluated along with the 787, before the 787 was chosen. I still have the A350XWB baseball hat from attending the 3-day cross-discipline workshop that Airbus laid on in Calgary.
