Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out.

Also note that Hertz (and others?) offer a "pay now" option which is less expensive than whatever price listed. And you do earn miles with "pay now".

Since I'm 24, there's always a 25$ or so fee tacked on to each rental for me. Is there any problem with a family member actually doing the rental if I'm present and paying and providing my DM account?

Looks like you can get the fee waived with this code at Hertz. I suspect it will combine with some of the CDP discounts:

All the rentals I did for last year's GS were with Avis, and I used the discount code in the US partner list.

Any regular Hertz/Avis/etc rental will count as a hit.

The rate I posted above was the run of the mill weekend day that always comes up +-3$ at the shown HLE with the AAA rate. I seriously doubt its the only HLE in the country with such cheap rates

No luck at HLE

I just went down to Hertz location right next to my work in Philly. I spoke with the agent and she was willing to work with me but the rates were way too high. Around $47.00/day.

Got to try some other location.

Depending on location, I can rent from Sixt for less than 35€ a day.

Note: A couple of FTers started a car rental site that automatically searches for discount codes and applies them. I can't remember the name of the site, but I'm sure somebody here knows.

Alamo has good rates (around $22 - 25 including taxes and fees) in MHT, will get 500 miles if booked through US or use US contract#.

Look online for Friday (weekend rate) using AAA. I have not searched in Philly but the surrounding suburbs are cheap. Probably 25-30 all in.

Belaboring what is perhaps obvious

I don't recall seeing anyone mention that most of the car rental partners have special offers up for discounts and/or extra miles. See http://www.usairways.com/en-US/divid...iles/cars.html
