Commentary:
This was by far the worst food I've ever experienced on United, and I'm not by any means a picky eater. The soup was OK, but the other appetizers were uninspiring and skimpy. The warm breads from the basket were hard and crunchy, whereas the croutons for the salad were soft and chewy (shouldn't this be the other way around?). I initially ordered the pork chop, but it was so tough the knife could not slice into it. So I just tried grabbing it off the plate and gnawing at it, but it was tough and the sauce tasted terrible. I returned it to the FA, who brought the filet mignon, which was marginally better-it was a bit dry but edible. The potatoes were both cold and hot at the same time.
I went with the deli plate prior to landing, because I was scared to do any hot food after the lunch experience on that flight. The deli plate was pretty minimalist at best.
Overall, a very disappointing flight foodwise, in fact I've had better food in Y. The kicker was that I had flown JNB-FRA with LH in F prior to this flight, and the difference in food quality between LH and UA is like night and day.

Anyone know what to expect ORD-YVR Breakfast and YVR-ORD Lunch? Reviewing the thread I didn't seem to thrilled with any of the presentations here but I am pretty picky lol.

Anyone ever flown on UA222 IAH-ORD? Meal service states "Snack", but I was wondering if the LFML trick would work on this flight.

Actually, they are not mashed potatoes. They are scoops of corn cake/polenta.
UA has been serving these same old atrocious ravioli and chicken breast on midcons AND some trancons since October of last year. I think I've had the same menu for about 6 or 7 times.
It's time to change, United!

sfo-ord FC 757 dinner time-should I pre-order special meal
Hi there,
I will be flying sfo-ord on 757 in FC. What do you think, s it better to pre-order some kind of special meals (low fat, or something else ual offers)?
Any comments?

UA77 BOS-DEN
B757-200
Lunch
Pre-departure beverage of OJ or water offered in a plastic cup.
Orders taken prior to departure. Choice of:
Chicken Breast Sandwich
Steak Salad
After departure, beverage of choice in a glass along with warm nuts.
Meals served on a tray with linens. Both meals included a small bowl of soup. It was maybe a "hearty" tomato bisque. Very tasty. And, a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie.
Steak Salad:
Mixed greens topped with three pieces of steak. More like grilled steak tips. Served with a roll and butter.
Chicken Breast Sandwich:
A herb-crusted chicken breast with cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Served on a cheese roll along with a small ramekin of sun-dried tomato mayo. Very tasty.

Block Time: 4 hours, 37 minutes

Hindu (HNML) Short-Con Breakfast
Here's the HNML served LAX-DEN on April 3 (757)
I'm not sure what the proper names of the dishes are; anyone care to assist?

Excellent meal for a flight of that length. Thanks for snapping a picture of it--is that a first?

The two things on the bottom - well, it depends on what's in them. Was it potatoes? In that case maybe they are "vegetable cutlets" - mashed potatoes mixed with veggies and pan fried. Or was it semolina (texture like cream of wheat)? In that case maybe it's uppama (a kind of savory pudding with semolina, chiles and vegetables).
How was it? Looks like a nice change from the standard eggy/cheesy/sausagy things in the regular breakfasts!
