Flight/Route: UA944/DEN-ORD
Aircraft/Seat: 757-200/3B
Departure Time/Duration: 9:06 a.m./2:19
Meal: Breakfast

I was expecting C on a 777, but we had an aircraft swap (handled very well by the gate agents; my new F boarding pass was printed and waiting for me). As retsef noted, "Better seat, crappy breakfast or Crappy seat, better breakfast." But F isn't crappy for two hours so I appreciated the hot "regular" breakfast that was served. The crew was very efficent and the food arrived very quickly.

Scrambled eggs with a bit of cheese mixed in, three hash-brown discs, a sausage link and a large slice of ham, plus a small fruit bowl (red grapes, cantaloupe and a large strawberry), and croissants (with a choice of strawberry preserves or marmalade and a Grassland butter pat) out of the basket made up the meal, which was served on a single tray. I tried a Starbucks Cream Liqueur in my coffee. Drinks were kept topped up throughout the flight.

Flight/Route: UA1236/ORD-BWI
Aircraft/Seat: A320/3C
Departure Time/Duration: 1:25 p.m./1:49
Meal: Snack

The excellent crew set the tone right off the bat; drinks were offered so I had a G&T (which tastes better in a plastic cup because it means you're drinking it on the ground ). Several service members (Air Force) were onboard, headed to the Middle East, and the captain came through the cabin and personally thanked them for their service, as well as announcing their presence on the P.A. (nice round of applause from the passengers). ^

I had considered ordering an LFML, but reports of a fruit plate instead of a deli meat/cheese/fruit plate dissuaded me. The deli plate (one slice each of turkey and ham, two cantaloupe slices, red grapes, a strawberry, and one slice each of cheddar and jack cheese, plus two packages of Pepperidge Farms Harvest Wheat crackers) was quite enough food for the time of day. The quality of the meat/fruit/cheese was pretty good, and the Canyon Road cabernet sauvignon went down easily.

The purser, Christina, was a gem: friendly, proactive and busy throughout the flight.

Flight/Route: UA473/BWI-ORD
Aircraft/Seat: 757-200/3D
Departure Time/Duration: 4:58 p.m./2:14
Meal: Snack

Another proactive crew; the captain gave us an in-cabin briefing (130 mph headwinds would add 30 minutes to the flight time, so loading up quickly would get us there close to on-time; he would "sacrifice comfort for speed" to speed our arrival).

After takeoff I enjoyed a double Scotch (I asked for Chivas but I think it was Dewar's), plus some Premier snack mix.

This version of the deli plate (one slice each of turkey and ham, two green-melon slices, one pineapple slice, red grapes, and one slice each of cheddar and jack cheese, plus the same two packages of Pepperidge Farms Harvest Wheat crackers) was also quite good. We arrived in Chicago only five minutes late.

Mid-Con Breakfast and IVML Special

1/31
UA 68 LAX-ORD (757)
Breakfast

Boarded late, so no pre-depature drinks. Hot towel service and initial drinks followed by breakfast; orders were taken from front of cabin back. Cheese Omelette with ham slice and sausage link with breakfast potato or fruit plate.

IVML:

This was a new one for me:

Mashed sweet potato and some sides which I will have too look up somewhere to identify. Two gulab jamun-looking balls that were suffed with a spicy green veggie filling and a large croquette of what I think was potato. Two small naan, small side of fruit (grapes and melon) and plain yogurt.

UA 925 IAD-LAX (319)
Snack

Deli Plate or Fruit Plate. Same thing a week later on the same flight, same equipment and my special wasn't loaded.

Does anyone know what IAH-IAD serves for dinner (mainline / A319)?

Is it the typical cold short-haul options, or will it be a mid-con dinner with warm entrees and a side salad? I'm flying UA 982 (IAH-IAD) this coming Saturday, so I'm curious. Thanks for your help!

I hate those flights that just barely take an extra e-500....IAD-ORD is worse at 589 miles

Anyone know what the current offerings are in F on the 3-class transcom IAD-LAX/LAX-IAD? Is it the usual chicken or pasta choices (dinner) and eggs or fruit plate (breakfast)?

TIA.

I am not sure what happened on this flight, but I definitely feel like I got gipped compared to what the rest of the thread is reporting.

Choice of:
Green Salad with Steak or Turkey, Bacon and Cheese on Focacia. Salad came with a roll, sandwich came with grapes.

Thats it. No soup, no cookie...I have been on mid-cons with more food. The only possibility is that the flight arrived late from LAX so turn around time was tight, but this really was a joke.

Oh how I miss my old airline.

Definitely sounds like a catering snafu - you should make sure to mention that when you fill out ualsurvey.com ... or just write a letter and tell them how disappointed you were.

Yeah, if there's a "Coastal Breeze" on the menu, it's p.s. It's what UA added to try to sound classy and like it's a worth substitute for removing champagne (plus, I'm sure there were some kickbacks or "increased revenue" from the Westin sponsorship).
