I love the shrimp salad. Too bad I am not a big fan of Salmon (other than sport fishing for them ) or I would have tried it.

Why is that strange?

I'm glad UA is finally serving something other than beef or chicken.

Breakfast

Pre-departure beverage of choice offered in a plastic cup. Requests for something more than OJ and water were honored. ^

After departure, beverage of choice in a glass.

Then, breakfast orders taken.
Choice of:
Scrambled Eggs or Fruit Plate

Meals served on a tray with linens.

Fruit Plate:
Did not observe anyone eating it.

Scrambled Eggs:
The "southwest-stlye" scrambled eggs. Complete with diced jalapeno peppers, red bell peppers, and shredded cheddar cheese. Included one shriveled sausage, a small half-dollar sized slice of ham, and three half-dollar sized hashbrowns. Fairly decent. Served with a mini-fruit plate consisting of a bunch of red globe grapes (on the vine), two slices of cantaloupe, and one strawberry. I was still hungry after the meal. Not filling at all for a trans-con breakfast!

Choice of croissant or blueberry muffin with vegetable oil spread, marmalade, or strawberry jam.

Channel 9: On ^
Block Time: 6 hours, 39 minutes
Deja Vu on 07 March 2009. Only difference was the abysmal 11/24 load factor in F and the lack of strawberry jam. I feel bad for those who make this trip weekly. The same scrambled eggs over and over again. Bring back the omelet please! It's more filling.

Lunch

Pre-departure beverage of OJ or water offered in a plastic cup.

Orders taken prior to departure. Choice of:
Hot Pastrami Sandwich
Turkey Salad

After departure, beverage of choice in a glass along with warm nuts.

Meals served on a tray with linens. Warm chocolate chip cookie also included.

Pastrami Sandwich:
Didn't get a good look at it, but it looks like a sub roll stuffed with Pastrami. A small ramekin of mustard provided. Served with some sort of couscous on the side.

Turkey Salad:
Served with a wheat roll and real butter. Came with two tubs of Ranch dressing. Salad itself was mixed greens, red lettuce, bacon bits, cubes of swiss cheese, black olives, diced tomatoes, and two quarter slices of boiled egg. Included some cubes of turkey as well. Adequate for such a quick flight.

Dinner

Pre-departure beverage of OJ or water offered in a plastic cup.

Orders taken prior to departure. Choice of:
Chicken Breast with Mashed Potatoes
Cheese Ravioli

After departure, beverage of choice in a glass along with warm nuts.

Meals served on a tray with linens. Both meals included a small salad (walnuts, mixed greens, one cherry tomato, Parmesan cheese slices, and one tub of Caesar dressing). Included a dinner roll with real butter. And, chocolate cake with Oreo crumbles.

Cheese Ravioli:
Good portion of ravioli drenched in red sauce. Served with a small ramekin of shredded Parmesan cheese.

Chicken Breast:
Looks like it was first steamed, and then seared with some grill marks. Very tender and juicy. Boneless and skinless. Served with boiled baby carrots, boiled asparagus slices, and mashed potatoes. Chicken also included some sort of slightly spicy chipotle sauce.

Breakfast

Pre-departure OJ and water - I was too tired to ask for a mimosa (6 a.m. departure - felt like 5 a.m. with daylight savings)

Breakfast choices were routine: (1) Spinach omlette with two sausages, a bit of fruit and potatoes or (2) the fruit breakfast plate. I chose the omlette - and enjoyed it, as usual.

Choice of blueberry muffin or croissant.

Water, OJ and coffee refills were offered throughout the flight. The FC attendant was smiling throughout and checked on all 12 of us often.

All in all, a good flight with good service.

Oh, and Channel 9 was ON the entire flight. Kudos!

Lunch flight 12:00 scheduled departure 1:20 actual departure.

Pre-departure OJ and Water served. No one asked for anything else so I don't know if they would serve it.

Hot nuts and drink of choice after take off.

Choice of:

Steak salad or Chicken and bacon on a ciabatta role (hot meal). Both were served with Spring Asparagus Soup.

Chocolate chip cookies and milk served separately about 1 hour later and also passed out the leftover cookies.

Decent service and the purser gave me a bottle of water to go. I guess I was drinking a lot of water during the flight like I usually do.

I had the steak salad and asparagus soup meal a few months ago, and it was probably one of the tastiest and most filling I've ever had on United.

The hunk of steak on top of the salad looked rather large. Most everyone in the front of the plane had it.

I ate a vegetarian meal with eggplant, chickpeas, and couscous, seved with roll and butter and a slice of carrot cake. It was quite tasty!

Flight/Route: UA742/SEA-DEN
Aircraft/Seat: 757-200/2B
Departure Time/Duration: 5:05 p.m./2:30
Meal: Dinner

We rerouted from PDX-SFO-DEN to PDX-SEA-DEN to avoid a Tedcraft PDX-SFO and arrive in DEN two hours earlier. The load in F was light. We were offered a choice of drinks prior to departure; I had a Dewar's and water.

After takeoff we were offered smoking-hot nuts and drinks.

I switched to some red wine (the DeBartolli again, if I can remember the label correctly). A choice of cheese tortellini or a cold seafood salad (shrimp and scallops) was offered.

The pasta looked a bit ragged but tasted quite good - it was not overcooked like it can be. A wheat roll/Grassland butter and a slice of carrot cake were also on the single tray.

After dinner I picked at my cakeand enjoyed a Starbucks Light and coffee, which I received in a large tumbler - a bit strange, but I think it might have been a double. ^

I had a nice chat with the (cute) flight attendant and her upcoming trip to Cabo San Lucas. We arrived a few minutes early.
