Just to clarify:

BOS-EWR cleared, EWR-PVG waitlisted.

If I do SDC to switch to BOS-ORD-PVG, I can get 40 PP back and apply them to the new routing?

I got the answer myself. It is 3+ days. My trip was December 5 (Beijing time) and the request disappeared on December 8 (US time).

Thanks, I was wondering that too, as it still shows flights from two days ago having been requested, and the request itself shows up under the new "PlusPoints upgrades" tab for reservations.

It also seems to have reserved more than the maximum total that would be required (20 domestic, 80 for L-INTL instead of just 60), but I figured that's part of their new system. At least it doesn't pre-allocate them, and reduce the total available until they're used...

I don't think anybody is sure yet. I would hope that's possible, but I don't really want to commit to it until someone has a report.

I see the same issue with my itineraries. In my case I suspect this may be because a previously applied RPU/GPU was automatically converted to PlusPoints and the PlusPoints request for the new eligible international route was processed as a second independent request. Hence 20+80 points needed.

I called in and they said they'll fix it but I haven't seen anything change. Might have to submit a post-trip appeal for the difference if both domestic and international clear...

Hi all, wasn't sure if this was the right place to ask but I thought I'd shoot my shot anyways so here goes. In advance, sorry for the large number of screenshots, had to try and paint the best picture I could.

So just yesterday I had a GS friend apply his soon expiring plus points to my entire reservation. He sent me the picture showing that this is everything he was upgrading like below:

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ab9c08ff37.png

The first flight shows as no upgrade because I had already waitlisted myself for an upgrade using my miles (it was only 10K so I bit). So nothing really looks wrong. I check a few hours later and it didn't seem like any upgrade was applied. So I message him again, and he said "hmm maybe I didn't go all the way through with it. let me try again." And then I get sent this photo:

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fe3b646af8.png

Again, the LAX-EWR segment was already waitlisted by me, so no upgrade will be for that one. Interestingly though, the BOM-EWR segment disappeared from being able to be waitlisted and not sure why. But of course with only the EWR-SFO segment being there, it would only be a 10 plus point upgrade from PP to Business. So now let's shift over to what my reservations look like because there's two different stories. This is what reservation on my laptop shows with everything waitlisted except for the BOM-EWR flight.

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4fd472ac6b.png

However, if we look at the same exact thing on my phone. We have conflicting stories:

It shows as the BOM-EWR waitlisted on my phone.

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...54669be441.png

But it gets even stranger than that. So for starters, If I click on the information icon next to the EWR-BOM which we saw as waitlisted for sure on the desktop screenshot, we get this, which is what it should be:

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5cf04e6b40.png

However, if we look at the same messaage for the return BOM-EWR flight, it shows this:

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9c37b29766.png
I don't understand why that shows when I click on the BOM-EWR information. Definitely a weird one. And then when I click on the upgrade info for EWR-SFO, it just shows this black window:
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9b9ceaa6b3.png

And lastly, I used the UA app on my phone to check if I was actually waitlisted for the UA49 flight and looking at it, I saw my info "DES,R" at position #7 on the waitlist, unless there happens to be another DES, R.
Again, sorry for the insane amount of photos, but I wanted to give you the best picture I could so you could see what was going on. So does anyone know whether it's safe to say if I'm on the waitlist or not? Thanks!

Well if it were me I would have taken all my personal details out.

The process is a mess right now. I'm sure it doesn't help you've layered upgrade request on top of upgrade request. You should pull your miles upgrade request and have the GPU applied to all segments. A GS GPU has substantially higher priority. (And your current miles request has basically zero chance of clearing. 1Ks routinely miss on SFO/LAX-EWR.)

If it's not too much of a favour to ask of your friend, I would say you should ask him to call in, explain to the agent that he wants to upgrade you, but that you already had applied some miles for some part, and he would like the agent to clean it up (hopefully refunding your miles in the process.)

If that is too much to ask, you should do this yourself, but only ask that the agent remove and refund everything, and then let your friend try again.

Yeah I figured. I might consider that. but if my dad and I are the only ones on the waitlist, should we bother? Also wouldn't that cost another 20 PlusPoints or so?

You should get them back and our experience bears that out. We had PlusPoints applied to LAS-IAH-AUS the other day. IAH-AUS cleared. We SDC'd to LAS-DEN-AUS, getting in a bit earlier. :pur PlusPoints were returned without our mentioning them. I should note that the SDC involved calling in as the system gave strange errors trying to change an itinerary that only had one segment upgraded. I've got no idea whether the agent did anything special. It didn't take long for the agent to make the change.

Is there now a way to see the upgrade list far in advance, like multiple weeks?

I remember reading that in this thread, but can't find it.

How long until PP+ are redeposited? Didn’t get an upgrade on SFO-DEN (not surprising) on Dec 7th and they haven’t been redeposited.

That said I do like that it is much easier to track which reservation they were applied to - the old system was atrocious in that regard.

2-3 days. My flight was last Saturday. The requested points disappeared this morning (Tuesday).

Just for clarity: they don't get 'redeposited' the way G/RPUs used to be, instead they are just un-requested.

So if your PlusPoints total is lower than it should be, you need to inquire.
