The problem is RPUs were deducted when waitlisted, but PlusPoints are only deducted when cleared.

But even deducted RPUs turned into PlusPoints, so there is actually no problem.

Not for myself. The only instruments converted were the ones I had not applied.

My understanding is that instruments that hadn’t cleared were supposed to be converted to PlusPoints and then reapplied. If that didn’t happen, then, yes, I’d expect problems.

I had basically that understanding too, but I hadn't thought about it fully until after nothing happened for those in the conversion.

So I suppose the focal uncertainty is, for how many people did no conversion happen for applied certificates? Like a good human :p, I assumed my experience was universal, but maybe it wasn't.

I had 2 RPU's I guess expiring soon maybe end of January, and I took a flight PHX-IAH-PHX and tried to use RPU's but turned out to be first alternate on each flight (rotten luck) but the first RPU was redeposited as 20 point and I see that 20 points are "requested" so I am guessing that I was lucky to extend the expiry timing of the RPU's unless they have expiration dates as well? Maybe it was a silver lining, anyway, seat 21a is fine with lots of room and United gracefully accepts expired drink coupons while I clear out last year's inventory! Great flights!

So how long are PlusPoints taking to post? I earned another "GPU" two days ago and still no points in my account.

I crossed the 175K PQM mark on the day of conversion in the evening (12/4) and miles posted right away. 40 pluspoints showed up pretty quick after that (either 12/5 evening or 12/6 morning).

EDIT: Account history shows 40 points deposited 12/5.

The PlusPoints expire on the same day that the RPUs would have.

Your RPUs should have been replaced by PlusPoints on December 4. "Requested" refers to the number of points that it thinks are currently applied to reservations. Did you have another RPU waitlisted somewhere? Two RPUs should have turned into 40 points.

How soon is the requested PlusPoints total reduced after failed request

I took a flight and the upgrade did not clear. Will the total of my requested PlusPoints change (reduce)? How long will it take after the flight if it does?

I had a domestic waitlisted flight at conversion time and the deducted RPU was automatically redeposited into my account before conversion to PlusPoints. Worked as expected.

For those wondering if this is all correct for themselves, take a look at your account history.

Points taken from 2021 points rather than 2020 points...confused

I used my PP to put in an upgrade for travel from AKL-MIA r/t in March on UA. I received notification of my upgrade from SFO-AKL clearing but was confused when I saw the points were taken from the points expiring in Jan 2021 rather than the ones in Jan 2020. I thought they would first pull points from the earlier expiring points. Is this an error or is this standard protocol? Is there a way to change this?

I am confused. If your travel was March 2020, how could this be upgraded with points that expire January 2020. UA would need to use the January 2021 points. :)

Two questions: Is there anyway to see how many PP are required for an upgrade in the shopping path? Additionally, if a record locator says "not elgible for upgrade" even though theres a $269 cash offer out there, what does that mean? PP glitch? The itin has one mainline flight, connecting to a 145. Definitley upgrdeable in the past.

What do you mean in the shopping path. Because when you get to the screen to buy tickets it will tell you $767 plus 80+p
or $1123 +p unless anything below W is available. And not eligible for a upgrade probably has something to do w/ premium plus

Shopping path meaning whle shopping, not at CKO. Sounds like no - bummer.

I got the answer myself. It is 3+ days. My trip was December 5 (Beijing time) and the request disappeared on December 8 (US time).
