Completely agree. Given the money they have invested in the app development (which if you ask me is industry leading) and the website - automated email is easy. They could generate so much more good will if they simply automated email messaging tied with status. I mean they bombard us with surveys after flights.

I don't want an automated email, I want a personal call from Kirby Your Enthusiasm.

37,775 PQP and 21 PQF out of EWR in 2023, all on United metal except ~1,000 PQP. No re-qualification yet. Been GS since 2019.

Currently have ~19K PQP across 8 PQF booked for just January 2024. I'm hoping that helps my case.

Great opportunity for a GS challenge?

seabrookflyer Jan 6, 2024 3:38 pm

My status updated last night. First time GS at 65,200 PQP and 50 PQF. Flew out of IAD/DCA this year.

Last year 52000 PQP was not enough, half IAH and half DCA. But maybe the pattern helped.

Is it possible to request one? I emailed 1KVoice last year without success

Many fallen GS have mentioned going thru the GS desk to get a challenge. Others have reported going to 1KVoice but the decisions is not made by MileagePlus but rather a separate group. If not interested they don't reply. Search the prior years for GS+challenge to learn more.

First time GS: Qualfied

After a decade or so of 1K i got my first GS. Like everyone here and on the FB groups there was no notification, my status just changed on the app Jan 03 evening.
IAH , PQF = 46, PQP = 71.7k. (Inclusive of starter, exclusive of CC).

So pretty good ratio, most was international Polaris, key was sticking to UA metal. Especially on IAH-FRA where in previous years I would often take the LH flight to minimize layover. That probably killed me. The new EWR-DBX UA flight also helped a lot this year.

I am figuring they are going to send an email , or a post or something to tell me about it.

I was offered the Challenge by a GS Agent when I called in about a possible itinerary change in January of last year. She was explaining my options and one of them was something only available to a GS (can't recall what it was), and I explained that I wouldn't be a GS during the trip (mid Feb) and she asked me if I has been offered a GS Challenge. I said no, and she put me on hold and called someone and told me they would review it. Got an email explaining the rules within a week. Basically $17K PQP all UA Metal within 120 days.

I'm only at $37K PQP this year, but already have $10K booked in the first two months of 2024, and my work travel is about to pick up, so I'm going to call and request a challenge when I almost assuredly get the news of dropping to 1K on Jan 11/12th.

My app updated to GS on Jan 3. I did not get an email.

First time GS

48,910 PQP 36 PQF

Only one long trip international - but paid 12k for business seats.

Just as a data point, I have been GS since 2019 with at least 70,000PQP on all United metal every year. Million miler. In 2022 I finished with 86,000PQP all on United. Mostly business class tickets on international flights. Below is my PQP for 2023. Still waiting to get a GS invite for 2024. I have two colleagues who are in the same boat. One with even more PQP in 2023. All waiting for an invite. Our company allows us to use any airline we want for travel. We make the reservations on the company website. The fares do tend to be discounted, but because we have to book refundable, it is often possible to get cheaper tickets (non refundable) directly from United. Regardless, the amount of traveling we do is obviously significant. The only reason I post this is because if United decides not to invite us back, it would indicate a significant policy change on their part regarding the GS program. It would also result in me (and the others as well) dropping a very significant amount of travel from United. No point in chasing GS if you can’t be one. I’ll requalify for 1K in late Feb. We’ll know in a few days.

There is ZERO chance you don't get an invitation.

burrito007 Jan 7, 2024 1:24 pm

Have they actually sent the invitations? as I said in my post above, I qualified for GS and my app changed Jan 3, but I didn't receive any email, phone call, or physical mail. Still haven't gotten anything.

Considering some of the relatively low numbers above, would think you’ll be good. Keep checking mystatus.united.com
