This us an archive thread, the active thread is General discussion of UA's inflight service (Domestic / International, all cabins)
previous thread: COVID Era UA inflight service changes

Thread is for general discussion of the state of UA in-flight service / catering, comparison to other carriers, past UA offerings and concerns with management decisions.

For a specific post about a recent in-flight food, use the appropriate Let's Eat .... thread.

The current Onboard Service descriptions by UA.com

Long-haul international premium cabin dining
North America, Caribbean and Latin America premium cabin dining
United Economy dining

Since the UA website is extremely vague, I'm looking for a few volunteers to submit data, and I will summarize to complete the wiki. kind regards, phkc070408

AA Eagle over 900 miles would get a cold meal box as below.
An example from my SEA-LAX flight with AA Eagle operated by SkyWest below.

We've been over this before. Many of us have been refused. Please keep in mind that GS get special treatment.
I have been refused a number of time and I am a no status passenger with various explanations of why it is not allowed.

From a meal has been provided to you by UA, the fact that you may not like it is not reason why I can comp you a snack box from back to there may not be enough snack boxes in the back for me to give you one, to I can get one for you, but you would have to pay just like any other economy passenger.

I don't know why United, can't serve basic crowd pleasers like omelets, chicken parmesan, chicken/pork marsala, beef stroganoff, macaroni and cheese, quesadillas, burrito bowls, (real) meatballs, soups, caesar salad, charcuterie, shrimp cocktail, fruits and cheeses, etc.

My flight from RSW to ORD on Thursday the purser asked: We have the impossible meatballs, the curry chicken or a snackbox from the back. Which would you prefer? (I saw about six out of the 16 in F receive the snackbox.)

They did - back in deregulation days. And more people wanted less carb-heavy dishes, despite of the fact that those dreaded sandwiches were served in the past two years.

The only thing that may have come close might have been the lobster mac and cheese that used to show up pre-pandemic.

It is interesting - at least to me - this refusal by some of a snackbox in F. I see people get it all the time and not refused - and not GS. Some are just unlucky I suppose. Like the above - I often see proactive offering of a snackbox.

My flight on Saturday IAH to SFO, they ran out of Impossible meatballs in row two, and the purser asked everyone following that if they'd like the only option she had left, the chicken, or anything they wanted from back - snack box, salad shaker, burger, chips, etc. Multiple people got the burger + pringles + candy from the back instead.

I have NEVER seen proactive snack box offering in F.

Nor have and I. I do wonder if there is an official policy regarding snack boxes or if it is crew dependent.

The one consistent thing about UA is that they are very inconsistent.

I totally agree. Why not just a regular salad and forget about this cutesy stuff they call salad. Why not conventional food such as you mention. I mean much of the time you have to google what you are getting served so you understand what you are being served. If they just did this then the lack of former service would at least be tolerable.

This does seem to be very variable. I've had the chili entree that had substantially larger portions.

I壇 be surprised if the entire tray cost more than $5. The delta between a full chili and what was shown here is probably a fraction of that. Did double check and my memory was right - another poster about a month or so ago had a similar serving size.
