This us an archive thread, the active thread is General discussion of UA's inflight service (Domestic / International, all cabins)
previous thread: COVID Era UA inflight service changes

Thread is for general discussion of the state of UA in-flight service / catering, comparison to other carriers, past UA offerings and concerns with management decisions.

For a specific post about a recent in-flight food, use the appropriate Let's Eat .... thread.

The current Onboard Service descriptions by UA.com

Long-haul international premium cabin dining
North America, Caribbean and Latin America premium cabin dining
United Economy dining

Since the UA website is extremely vague, I'm looking for a few volunteers to submit data, and I will summarize to complete the wiki. kind regards, phkc070408

On my flight, the purser is very young. I asked her for a glass of water after bathroom break; she poured a full glass of water for me. I joked with my wife that the glass was, at least, 99% full. Anyway, nobody else got a second serving of drinks on this flight. She was too busy with her reading routine.

"They" is the FAs. And since the current protocol is to empty the plastic snack baggies onto a metal tray, yes, I've been on a number of flights where the FAs couldn't be bothered. "Refused" is your word, not mine.

Interesting - I've never seen that. I've had plenty of LAX-LAS and vice versa flights not have them and when asked they told me not catered - I've not found ground to not believe them.

LOL - those ones! When I used to work supplying the industry this design was greatly preferred for ease of handling -- both in the kitchens and in the airplanes. I'm guessing that in SIN (at least for this flight) they didn't have all of the new specification dishes and had to substitute as I can't believe UA would be going back -- but I can tell you that the dog dish plates do cost less, and break less often, than what UA uses now....

The wonderful thing about those "doggie dishes" is that they hold a far greater volume of UA gastronomic delights!

Those enamored of round plates should be mindful of this ancient formula:

A = πrイ

The FAs on my flights were a little surprised that it wasn’t catered. They weren’t aware of a cutback for cognac.
Well now I've hit the cognac drought. For the benefit of FT I ordered a nightcap eastbound, and FA couldn't find any cognac. The backup offer was amaretto, which I took, and then gave back because I didn't realise how sweet it was. Settled for Glenfarclas.

Westbound, tried again. FA thought there might not be any, and there wasn't. Offered amaretto again, went straight to scotch.

Aah, but as this thread illustrates, volume of the bowl (let's just go with πrイh for simplicity) has zero correlation with volume of contents placed in the bowl. We're in a situation in which more is less, and simultaneously, less is more.

IMO, the Chobani yogurt is too sweet. I致e given up on having breakfast on UA. I usually just ask for a glass of OJ and that痴 it.

I did like to have a cognac after dinner, but the downgrade from VSOP to VS was a big disappointment. Not that the Courvosier VSOP was top of the line, but you can taste the difference with the lower grade VS. I壇 still take it instead of any of the other offerings.

It does seem to be GoJet. On a GoJet flight today and they had not only the "premium" snack basket, but also the cheese and cracker packs.
(Almonds, chips, Kind bars, gummie bears, Cheez-Its, etc. Haven't seen any with fresh bananas though),

Have them again this weekend, will see if they have it again.

Refugee from AA here. I decided to try UA and see how it compared. Flew PHL-ORD-YVR and was shocked at the lack of food for 7-8 hours of flying in F. The first leg was just the pretzels and cookie things discussed above despite being a dinner time flight. For the longer segment it was a veggie bowl with almost nothing in the way of a starter (just some more veggies pretending to be a salad, I guess) and a "dessert" the size of a silver dollar. Overall, it was just SAD! I was quite hungry. AA is nothing to brag about, but it is not serving such lean rations!

Yep the food on United is way worse than American. American has a real snack basket on shorter flights (PHL-ORD wouldn't have gotten a meal on AA either but you'd have had a choice of 7 or 8 snack items) and the hot meals on AA are way better than UA right now. It's frankly embarassing.
