Active thread; UA-Schedule changes; +25% TATL 2022 capacity, Q2 TPAC down 65% vs 2019; June changes
UA publishes a schedule for 330 days in advance (called Beginning of Schedule) and in the past would make tweaks quarterly and things would be fairly settles 3-4 months out. Updates would occur Friday evening / Saturday morning (Chicago time). Routine additions could occur anytime.
20 Oct 2021
However, during the COVID era, UA has gone to a more dynamic and shorter-term setting of schedule (as has the other carriers). Presently UA, while UA is still publishing a schedule for 330 days in advance it reflects pre-COVID operational levels and is considered just a placeholder schedule. Then 3-5 weeks prior to a month, UA makes a major update of that month's schedule.
Examples (Major updates)
The October 2020 schedule was updated 4-5 September 2020
The November 2020 schedule was updated 2-3 October 2020
The December 2020 schedule was updated 30-31 October 2020
Holidays can move the major date a week earlier or later.
Weekly updates are still generally done over night Friday-Saturday (Chicago)
UA does not publish a summary of most schedule changes but a variety of sources below do and summaries / links of those sources can be found in this thread & wiki.

Change Fees "Are Gone For Good"(Worldwide ex-USA,non-BE),waiver til March2021 for all
Change Fees Are Gone For Good
The only thing constant is change and at United Airlines, some of the fees associated with changes related to flying are gone for good. The carrier announced today that it is permanently getting rid of change fees on all standard Economy and Premium cabin tickets for travel within the U.S., effective immediately. And starting on January 1, 2021, any United customer can fly standby for free, regardless of fare type, on a flight departing the day of their travel, a first among U.S. carriers, while MileagePlus® Premier® members can confirm a seat on a different flight on the same day with the same departure and arrival cities as their original ticket if a seat in the same ticket fare class is available.
United is also extending its waiver for new tickets issued through December 31, 2020, to permit unlimited changes with no fee. This policy applies to all ticket types issued after March 3, 2020 and is valid for domestic and international travel.
The new change fee policy applies to all standard Economy and Premium cabin tickets for travel within the U.S. 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and customers will not be limited in the number of times they adjust their flights.
Additionally, United is giving customers more flexibility to change their flights on the day of their travel so they can head home if a meeting ends earlier or enjoy a few more hours on vacation. With the ability to list for same-day standby for free, customers will now have an option to take a different flight with the same origin and destination airports as their original itinerary if space is available at departure. This enhanced option will be available to all customers for travel within the U.S. and to and from international destinations beginning on January 1, 2021. Customers who want to switch flights will be able to add themselves to the standby list through United’s award-winning mobile app, on united.com or at the airport no later than 30 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights and one hour before departure on international flights.
The carrier is also improving the travel experience for its MileagePlus members including waiving all redeposit fees on award travel for flights changed or cancelled more than 30 days before departure and allowing all MileagePlus Premier members to confirm a different flight on the day of their travel. As a way to thank MileagePlus Premier members for their loyalty, beginning January 1, 2021, all Premier members will be able to confirm a seat for free on a different flight with the same departure and arrival cities as their original ticket. This expanded option will allow MileagePlus Silver members and above to confirm a new seat in the same ticket fare class if space is available. Earlier this year, United announced that it will extend status for MileagePlus Premier and United Global Services® members through January 2022. United also reduced thresholds for Premier qualification by 50 percent for each status level, to make reaching an even higher status tier easier.

Yes, it looks like some June schedule updates were implemented overnight. A lot of the transcontinental markets have been trimmed, but not as deeply as in prior months. EWR-LAX/SFO are in the 6-7 daily range now, compared to 3 daily currently.
Oddly, some other routes I frequent (RIC-EWR, RIC-ORD) are untouched. There is no way United is going to keep RIC-EWR at 6 daily, when it has been 1-2 daily since the beginning of the pandemic.

My son goes to college in the Boston area and the college president just sent out a note saying Fall will be 100% back to normal. Academics, sports, everything. If the zillion schools in the Boston area take this approach, UA's Boston schedule should be back to pre-covid levels by August. Also good reason to fire up the BOS-LHR route UA promised a few months ago!

Disconnecting the status of United BOD schedules from what is happening at schools, it is true that most of the Boston area universities have been pretty conservative as they've managed campus access during COVID. The fact that they are pretty uniformly signaling an on-campus semester in the fall is a positive sign, but just one of many inputs that United will consider

I'm having a hard time thinking a bunch of students making a one way flight likely in economy to Boston is going to move the needle in UA's thought process on Boston flights.

They're all saying that because admitted incoming students have a May 1st deadline to accept. They were saying the same thing last year around decision time also, and then again right up past whenever their deferment deadline was when many said "oh never mind". I'm not saying they won't be more in-person, since it certainly looks more feasible than last year, but that's why they're rushing to say it now regardless of how things end up. Evaluating that likelihood is definitely one of my HS senior's factors.

Let's get back to discussing UA schedule changes, there are many external factors that will impact UA's scheduling decisions and opening of universities may be one. But based on recent history, UA will waiting until a month or two (hopefully get to 3 months soon) prior to make those decisions -- so a bit early to be discussing the Fall.

United's June Boston schedule which was just updated looks much better than May, BOS-SFO going to daily 4X 757 from 2X 737, BOS-LAX daily back, frequencies on DEN, IAH up slightly and ORD and EWR up significantly

Seems like July schedule has been rolled out too? I've seen some consolidation on LAX-EWR and SFO-EWR in mid-July but didn't have time to check other domestic routes/dates.

I'm catching some domestic updates for the first week of July right now. Seem to be rolling out incrementally.

My outbound leg (IAH-LAS) for my mid July flight was adjusted a couple of hours, which I don’t mind since a 9:50am flight is better than a 7:45am flight when you have to drive about an hour to get to the airport. Kinda wondering about the return flight since there is currently no red eye from LAS to IAH. Hoping the red eye is added and that I don’t have to roam the streets of Vegas over night for that 7am flight.....
