So the unfortunate part is, that what you were served isn't a "mishap". Its SOP for DEN.

I made UA FTers guess which catering station "generated" my meal (The UA Frequent Flyer Quiz Thread: Where Is This?).

Do you mind if I write about this and use your pictures? What a meal...

I'd be honored. UA, probably not.

You'll get 2-3 hot meal options.

Thanks. Couldn't find that info here: https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly...ing/first.html

Wouldn't be a sandwich or box. It will be a choice of regular meals. Meat/chicken or vegetarian, most likely.

I'm flying a Red Eye LAX-IAH 1am Tomorrow.
Flight Status Amenity Says: Dinner.

I would prefer to sleep. Has anyone ever gotten their meal To Go?
Or can they accommodate by serving near the end of the flight?

It costs nothing to ask but I suspect this is well outside policy.

In this case I would agree. It's outside of policy (it shouldn't be, but that's a whole different matter), but it won't hurt to ask.

Are there even to go containers onboard, I've never see them

This will be crew dependent but worth an ask.

If you are ok not having the meal I would just take that option. I flew the 12:55am LAX-IAH about a month ago and it was a bad “sleep” flight. It takes them a long time to get the ovens rolling and by the time trays were cleared, it was quite literally an hour and maybe 10 min before arrival and you know 20 mins of those are lost to the bright white lights coming on, so if you want to sleep I’d just skip the meal. I say skip because they won’t package it I don’t think. Just my experience but worth a try.

I don't know what is more horrifying - this meal, or the fact that it actually came from Italy. I could understand Iowa, but not Italy. I wonder how long these meals can be stored. I must say it takes a lot to make a Lean Cuisine look appealing, and this tray has done just that.

This is what I was served on that very flight out of LAX a month ago (from: The UA Frequent Flyer Quiz Thread: Where Is This? where flyingrohit correctly identified the catering station):

So that's the ragu atop polenta. There's also the "grilled" chicken breast atop rice with a southwesternish corn/tomatoes/chimichurri sauce.

Options: a) If you eat ahead of time, you can simply go to sleep (bring eyeshades and/or hoodie since the cabin will be lit for dinner at ~2 am) and not eat these items or b) bring a plastic container of suitable size, nap until the service, stuff the items in said plastic container and then go to sleep until IAH.

New to the United thread and just trying to figure out what I can expect for Lunch on LAX-EWR on the 787.. I guess its irrelevant as far as food that its the 787 not the 757. I am most curious if the sundaes are back how they are on AA? What about a cheese plate? And a warm bread basket? Found a really good price and even though I'm not a huge Polaris seat fan it still blows away 2-2 on the 57. Also, $150 less than what AA wanted and that would also be 2-2 seating. I dont see any bread baskets pictured above or sundaes or cheese plates so I am starting to think United is way behind AA.
