EWR-HNL Lunch (Before 9/15 Meal Enhancements)
EWR-HNL UA363 9/11/2021 747-400
Note - this was before the second meal was re-added to the catering.
I don't remember what the other option was; think it was a salad with protein. I selected the beef short-rib with a "hoisin-like" sauce and it was pretty good. p.s. - The sriracha is from my Emergency Meal Repair Kit and it helped.
Before arrival, the cabin crew scavenged un-used items from the Economy Class buy on board options and plated some Frankenstein snack. Check out my salad (mac-n-cheese, mac, and green) trio; nothing in my kit could have helped that.

Now if you flew ORD-DEN-PHX, then you'd get the chicken orzo or enchilada on ORD-DEN. Go figure.

I believe that this is the new free "meal" in economy class on longhaul Hawaiian flights.

There were also some cups of cut pineapple (which I also saw in the HNL UA Club) offered for the second meal and I heard mention of some sort of sweet potato salad. Those poor people in Y...

I don't have my meal photos to hand, but a couple of reports:
ORD-SFO 9/21 (753) was the usual enchilada or chicken/orzo. The crew heated the pretzel roll in the bag, which was an interesting touch. Better than cold, but it led to a weird steam-in-bag effect and definitely not as good as the old bread basket.
SFO-OGG 9/21 (752) was the same first service as FlyinHawaiian posted above on EWR-HNL, but with three options. I had the short rib (as pictured above - IMO the meat and sauce was quite tasty, the vegetables were pretty poor quality); other choices were vegan chili (meh, but this is an old standard UA meal) or "tamarind chicken". Again, pretzel roll heated in plastic.
Does anyone know if OGG-DEN gets an arrival service similar to the breakfast options that are getting posted on the IAH/ORD flights? Or does it need to be HNL and/or longer?

It's good to know United is still as consistent as always about being inconsistent. Is the sandwich/pretzel choice dependent on departure time, or the mood, personal feelings, preference or some other random input from the crew? At least we're connecting to Swiss at ORD and will return to civilization on that segment.
