I'm thinking the fact they are having the mothball 77Ws due to lack of seats may have caused and unforseen delay. I think the planes are there for them to announce this but they just have no J seats.

I'm waiting for the update too, hopefully it pulls through for their schedule in June.

United updates their schedules on Sundays so I'm hoping it comes through today.

Exactly why the wiki shouldn't have been updated until UA officially announces the schedule change

The wiki says "rumored/confirmed." I don't see the problem.

Right I mean it doesn't make sense for them to have the 747 and not be selling seats for the 747; although I wonder what happens to the folks who bought F and then get "downgraded."

The heading of the wiki says "rumored/confirmed" and has for a while. I revised the NRT entry after seeing your post (although the bracketed information after would lead one to have wondered anyway).

It is useful information to include rumored new routes - probably more useful than confirmed routes - as the goal was to give FT readers a place to find out where this plane would be flying.

Maybe they need a bit more confidence in the seat situations before they open up any more routes - but I would think that 5 planes is enough to do HKG, NRT, and TLV.

Perhaps I am in he minority here, I hope none of the exiting 747 routes will be replaced by 77W until the absolutely retirement date comes. The current batch of 77W should replace the PMUA 772s operates routes, so that these 772s can jumpstart the refitting work. Hypothetically, by the time 744s are fully retire from the scheduled flights, UA at least will already have a small fleet of 772s fitt d with Polaris cabin/.

Under the current plan, none of the 772s will be fitted with Polaris cabins when the 744s are retired.

It would be great if they could do that, but I don't think they have the seats to do both fleets at once. (In fact, it seems they may not have the seats to do one fleet at a time.)

1) The 772 routes don't need the capacity of the 77W for the most part, so UA would be putting more than needed capacity out while keeping the higher operating costs of the 747.

2) The 772s will start with retrofits as available, but they can't do them all at once either way, so they'll take a couple (or so) out of service at a time.
