As of Oct. 26, 2015 it no longer seems possible to access the old version of the website.

Workaround for Login & "Were sorry, but united.com was unable to complete your request." Problems:

Close United tab, clear browser cache, and delete all United cookies. Instead of logging back in using the home page yellow tile, click on the "Reservations -> Change or view reservations" link, and then login using the "MileagePlus: Sign in or join" link on the upper right of the page.

Well, I realize .bomb referred to the old PMUA web site, but I feel we should resurrect it for this new PMCO disaster

Or maybe outsource their booking site to Google.

Yeah, it used to not work for me in Firefox, so I'd use Safari, now it's erroring out in Safari as well.

Firefox also has the problem of not remembering you're logged in and prompting you to update your security after you've already logged in.

I too grow weary of United's "dog ate my homework" technology excuses.

But what if you were just the person they needed to make it perfect

Might as well have Google (or whomever) do the entire PSS from scratch. Get rid of those mainframes .

The new site was built from the ground up, but it was supposed to have launched in 2013. By 2015 it still was a work-in-progress and they just went live with the new booking engine to show they had accomplished something.

That's what's been a disaster since day 1. They beta tested it, we found thousands of bugs, and they still went live with it anyway. The old PMCO parts are ugly but work fine.

And I wouldn't even agree they are/were ugly; 'basic" yes, but as you wrote, at least they WORKED, and were decently fast too.

Unfortunately the internet nowadays is all about how pretty it is, with no thought about the functionality of it.
They replaced a perfectly functional and fast site with this heaping pile of garbage that truly is deserves the .bomb moniker.

I don't think I'm the first to point this out, but an attempt was to "tabletize" it, i.e. make it look like an app for phone or tablet.

Look how that turned out for Windows 8

That was my thought when I first saw the new UA.com. It looks like Windows 8. That's not a good thing.

Site functionality has completely stopped since yesterday

United.com does not allow me any more reservations. Error messages always after the first leg of the trip. This disaster has been going on now for weeks.

For many cookie-derived issues, including not staying logged in and not being able to complete a search, I find that using your browser's version of Incognito Mode helps. So does clearing cookies, for about two page loads.

My company has tabletized all our intranet pages and the consensus amongst the grown-ups was that it was not ready for prime time. Needless to say that did not stop the "execs" rolling it out to the internet. I have not been in a client meeting since where it hasn't been mentioned that it is a POS, and that they cannot find anything, and if this is an example of our new strategy well we can take a hike.

Completely agreed.

Current UA site is a piece of garbage.

Is Oscar aware of this?

It would be difficult for a company that was trying to be sub-par at IT to actually be this bad at IT.
