No - it's not that simple. There's a difference between International (big I) and international (little i), as in Cancun, Nassau, etc. The difference being price and distance, not some line on a map.
Random F/BF r.t airfare March 9 - 13
ORD-LHR $6807
ORD-HNL $1385 (wow - this is why there're no BF seats/service on these planes)
ORD-NAS $1064
NAS is considered North American service, and understandably so - and a leisure destination, at that. Not sure why it should be treated better than other N. American route of same length, especially considering the price, which is cheaper than most N. American routes of that length.

UA was always consistant with serving a meal on any Caribbean island to ORD and IAD.

Nope. The non-stop outbound. Check it out for yourself - and it gets a meal. I couldn't believe the price when I saw it. Maybe the return has a stop - I didn't check that. Even if it did, that's a pretty darn good price!
There's actually a surprising amount of consultants etc that work out of Maui and commute to west coast. I wish I could do that instead of to Houston. Mark Zuckerberg's just bought some expensive pad on Kauai, but I don't think he'll be waiting for a CPU, or even eating a UA meal.

The meal codes seem to be appropriately updated in the Amenities tab for flights like DEN-SAN. However, old meal codes are still on booking page and reservations page.

Just got off IAH-EWR, and I THINK I got the new "reinvented" dining. Choice was Chicken Salad with Tomato Basil soup or Cheeseburger with Coleslaw salad. Baked cookies after the meal.
I was skeptical at first since I heard cheeseburger. I selected the salad which was a chopped salad with chicken, eggs, cucumbers, tomamtos, blue cheese, and shredded Cheddar. Ranch dressing. Salad was served on a plate, and not the bowl as I recall from previous flights. The soup was also not bad and not too salty.
The cheeseburger looked like it had more meat and the bun upgraded to a sturdier pretzel roll. Coleslaw side looked fresh. All based on looking at neighbors order.
To avoid double-posting, here is link to the pics of my meal that I took today (2/1): 2/1 meal IAH-EWR.

"Meal times" are blurred when traveling. A lot of travelers find themselves in different time zones from what their body clock says it is, there's not always time to find a meal and in plenty of airports scrounging anything is expensive and difficult. "Meal Times" are an excuse invented by airlines to spend less money.

what happened to the leftovers?
So what do FT's sages think happened to all the old menu items that were retired on January 31? Somehow, I can't picture UA having a precise enough supply chain to finish up the last 99 cent frozen burrito on the last meal flight of Jan. 31.
Did the leftovers go to:
1. A homeless shelter?
2. Jeff's freezer?
3. The employee food bank?
4. A sanitary landfill?
Or are they just saving them until the next menu enhancement?

1. What does Jeff have against homeless people
2. Don't think I need to say anything here
3. A change the employees will like?
4. Wouldn't be sanity anymore, now would it.
- save until next enhancement? This makes most sense, probably enough preservatives in it to last a lifetime.
Back to reality.
Probably still be seen for a while until it runs out and they would just say, mis-catered, sorry.

Flew EWR-ORD today and tried some of the new options. I had a Cubano sandwich (it was nice and fresh with crispy bread and sweet pickles). It was served with a bag of chips and a grain salad that I did not enjoy. Fresh baked cookies (much better tasting than the old ones) came after. The other choice (that they catered only a few of) was a chicken salad. I didn't see it or see what it was served with.

You should get a full dinner, based on the updated meal information on the website.
The website does show a snack being served for this specific flight. Probably a glitch, or someone forgot to update the codes. I'd recommend you contact UA and let them know. Even if it's a small thing, they need to make sure their website is completely up to date regarding meal codes, so customers' expectations are set properly.

Non PS transcon, today. Salad course served followed by main. Main orders taken strictly front to back as near as we could tell with 1/4 in back row receiving first choice.

Seriously stop with holding!
Nice enough of a tease just to hear there was a sep salad course.
Was this EWR-SFO/LAX or what sort of transcon. Curious if the EWR/BOS flights to the west coast may get something that's a bit better than say EWR-LAS but still a bit below p.s.

It may also help to remember that today was Sunday, so changes may have been a bit limited due to it being Sunday. Perhaps we'll see more of a rollout tomorrow (Monday the 2nd).
But yeah, post pictures and details!
