Hi everyone,
As a follow-up to our recent news release about investments we’re making in dining onboard and in our United Clubs, we have a number of details to share about changes coming this weekend to every cabin on many of our North and Latin America flights, to offer you restaurant-quality meals. These latest upgrades come in addition to those we made October 25 to premium-cabin dining on our p.s. Premium Service.
For a more in-depth look at the investment we’re making in our food, UnitedAirtime.com now includes insightful foodie stories and a new video about why we want the food we serve to be exciting and interesting – something we’re working on in partnership with The Trotter Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring new generations of culinary minds.
Here are some highlights of menu changes on flights within the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and leisure markets in Mexico; which will be reflected beginning November 2 on our united.com North America premium-cabin dining page and Choice Menu page:

1. A egg "quesadilla" which was small and pretty nasty - soggy eggs in a tortilla - with a tasty "Mexican" sausage, and "salsa" (hot tomatoes with zero flavor) and a small plate of fruit.
2. Oatmeal - a VERY small bowl of oatmeal (which was looked like concrete), a large plate of fruit (similar to what is served on international breakfasts) and their generic "greek" yogurt.
Both were served with an optional large biscuit served on a plate. I was sad to see the cinnamon roll missing.
So proof - change doesn't equal improvement - typical United.

Was there any type of schedule change on this itinerary-and even a 'stealth change" where there is no red "schedule change notification? The reason I ask is that "meal 1" is generally an indication that there was a change of some sort. Try doing a dummy booking at look at the flight times for a change of even a few minutes or see if the equipment has changed. If yes, give a call to sort it out-or wait until Sunday or Monday to see if in fact there was a schedule change and it hasn't finished loading

FWIW I'm kind of annoyed the 9:08 PM IAH-SFO I'm now stuck on is just "Refreshments". At least a sandwich would be nice.

Was chatty with two FAs today flying SJD-EWR and mentioned that I was happy that there is something to look forward to with the dining for regular UA fliers. They both agreed that people have been pleasantly surprised and they themselves enjoy seeing what new stuff will be catered on the flights.

It's just sad in this day an age that United takes away aspects of the dining experience and then two years later brings it back touting it as new and with so much fanfare (i.e. cookie before arrival on a p.s. flight...)

I'm all for small/local biz but I've never once been really impressed with the cookies on UA. Last week on IAH-SJD I had a chocolate chip that I would have had 3-4 if I was allowed.
SJD-EWR most certainly did NOT use either of these suppliers, it was horrible.

Was on UA641 on 2/10 from LAX - HNL. Had the new expanded breakfast offerings AND was offered a cinnamon roll! They still do exist ...

Trans-continental and Hawaii flights departing before 9 p.m. offer a full meal service, which includes multi-course meals with three entree choices on flights that provide breakfast, lunch or dinner; a selection of premium packaged snacks and fresh fruit as a mid-flight snack on longer-haul Hawaii flights; and a pre-arrival refreshment or snack on all flights.

I'm definitely disappointed that United switched suppliers for the onboard cookies. While small in the grand scheme of things, I was always impressed that they had went with a small, woman-owned business as their supplier. Another bit of 'real' United biting the dust...http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2...kies-suppliers
