2014 Global Services Notification

EQM--137,500
BIS--appx. 100,000
Spend--appx. $60K, fare only
3 EWR/LHR/1 EWR/ZRH/DAR nonrefundable BF, domestic almost all B/M fare and all United metal (except code share ZRH/DAR)

2011-Presidential Platinum/GS
2012-1K, but spouse (who flies <30,000 EQM) GS via 1MMer, go figure
2013-1K with similar spend in 2012 as 2013

Maybe UA realizes BA flies 787 and 777 daily from EWR, so what consistent 1Ker would pay $6,500 to fly a 757-200 EWR/LHR unless there's GS for the loyalty?

What is the latest that any one has got the invitation for GS, at what point should you consider yourself left out ?

In late 2012, I didn't receive an email or any notification. When I made reservations for my first trip in Jan 2013, my MP status/level read "Global Services". It seems United is making an attempt to be more organized this year after many complaints regarding the way they previously handled the GS notification process.

If you haven't heard anything by early/mid January, you could ask to be considered. I'm not sure how often it works to ask, but if you have over $40K spend that includes at least three international business class tickets and a cents-per-mile average for the entire year of over 30 cents or thereabouts they *might* be inclined to grant you GS on the final decision round. Contact MileagePlus (they make the decision) and make your case. There are reports that existing GS members are being re-invited for 2014 if above that level. However it's also thought that initial qualification requires more. As my mom said when I was a kid, it never hurts to ask (nicely).

I was told last week by a customer service agent that I will be GS from Jan 1 but have not received any other notification yet, so I guess they are still going out.

My colleage and I have been working on this all year, in a race. I finished at around $40k with 163,000 miles, he finished at the same spend with less miles. He got invited, I didn't.

Interesting, so it sounds like your colleague's dollars per mile is higher than yours. GS cleary seem to be given to those who spend a high amount of money per trip

Has anyone got GS invitations today ? Wondering if they released another batch

I was kidding. I agree those flying these ridiculous miles must miss out on quite a bit.

Unfortunately, my figures are real. Fortunately, almost every one of the international trips are completed in less than a week - out Monday, back Thursday.

why don't you just call M+ to find out? Some flytalkers here have reported success by calling.

How much is your spent in 2013? Your $ spent will be the factor not your PQM.

Requalified 2013

Hello: I just requalified for GS. Got the first round email on 12/20. 2013
was my first year as GS. I carefully went back and it appears I have the lowest spend on this thread so far:

Total spend (fare only-no taxes): $40122
BIS: 137,146
PQM: 142,148
CPM: 29.3
Segments: 39
Long haul Europe trips: 3 RT in C or J
Long haul Asia trips: 3 RT in D or C

I work for a Fortune 100 company and am based in EWR.

How many BIS miles? We should include cents/mile ($$$/BIS) in our comparisons. For example, would estimate 91K BIS miles to give 137K PQM, then into $40122= 44 cents per mile. Looking like $40K with >40cpm looks like a good benchmark for qualification. (I was $62K at 46cpm)

Midwest Sensibilities Dec 24, 2013 12:12 pm

I was very, very surprised to qualify (hence this post). Less than 45k in spend and only about 20k in C/D/Z/Y/B. Based out of EWR...

1fan Dec 24, 2013 2:53 pm

I spent $29000 and 100041 no GS for me not that I thought I would qualify

Was the lowest number for qualifiers $40k? Did anyone under that figure make it or did anyone over that not make it?

(All numbers do not include taxes or fees as I very diligently tracked this at the time of purchase.)

My spend was a bit over 33k. Just under 17k was on full fare tickets. I was at 26.5 cents per mile. This seems to be quite a bit lower than what typical spend required..."

Spend lower than $40K...
