I passed my spend commit a few weeks ago but did not see my account updated. I emailed 1KVoice before my flight yesterday and they said give them another week to check in to it. When I got off my flight from DEN-HNL my account now says GS! Thanks United!

I went through the nested quotes and it seems targeted, but I'll ask anyways: does anyone know if this is an open challenge? I'll be way past that number by 4/6.

It's not an open challenge. It is based on your previous year's spend and whether you were on the fence for their qualification. I assume they also look at what you have scheduled for this year. Ironically, I got my invitation hours after booking Global First to HKG and First to Honolulu in January.

I recommend you go to the website mentioned in the thread and ask for reconsideration.

Got my GS package finally. Not impressed at all. Also no special treatment or upgrades yet. Oh except that call the other day when my flight was delayed by more than one hour. In the past I only got an email, now a computer also calls me. Woopi!

GS is most valuable during IRROPS (irregular operations...weather delays...etc) when you are first on the list for whatever flights you need or want. You'll also sometimes get a special escort during tight connections, including transportation on the tarmac in a Mercedes. There are many other perks you will learn about. Don't be cynical. Sure, they can't teleport you ala Star Trek transporter, but they can do a lot.

wouldnt you want to do the 200k to get the GS for life??

Since I am a 3.8 million miler, I already get this "benefit" by using my CO credit card and not flying one mile on UA, so means nothing to me. I think these demotion emails are new but can't be sure since this is my first

2013 Stats: 222k PQM (almost all on UA metal), >$60k spend, Paid UA business 4xAsia, 6xEurope, 2x SA; CLE based, 3.8 million lifetime miles

I got GS when I was 18 as a million miler companion to someone who had GS. But I'm the youngest person I'm aware of to have had it.

I gifted my son the GS a couple of years ago and he was 10 years and 4 month old

Any thoughts....
Thanks

What if you did 150K miles at 10 CPM, would you be the least worthy GS in history? :D^

So three $5K Z fares over a four month period is enough to secure GS?

No wonder my flight on Friday from IAH-DEN pre-boarded 9 GS passengers on a 737

No wonder that I'm #4 on UG list on a Y fare

I think you need to have some prior history of near GS level spending to get such an offer.

Agreed. I was a GS in 2013. I must have just missed the cutoff for normal selection for 2014, so United issued the challenge to me. The $15K fare requirement was based upon, and in addition to all my flight activity during 2013.

Improper conclusion. United considered my 2013 flight activity, spend, etc. plus required $15K during the period indicated.

As long as the 2013 activity put you in the ballpark, HOW (cpm) the additional $15K requirement was met would be irrelevant.

United also considered my 2013 flight activity, spend, etc. The $15K was an additional requirement to what I had already done in 2013 to qualify for the 2014 GS invite.

Quick question for those that got the challenge letter from united, how long after you contact MP for global services consideration did you got the letter?

I have been 1k for 7 years hope that will help to generate a challenge letter!
