The initial qualification level is thought to be higher than for renewal of an existing GS membership. The lowest cutoff for revenue FOR RENEWAL seems to be 40K and require three pricey international business class tickets or more (each $4,000 to $10,000). PQM means nothing, except as a way to determine cents-per-mile average. It is $pend that is important.

Read through these pages and you will learn much more. Bottom line is that many factors come into play, even your home because because it is also thought that GS memberships are allocated to the top spenders in each market area. It's relative. Someone living in, say, Moline can be a top 1% spender in that market and qualify for GS, but someone with the same $ level living in San Francisco may not.

I just booked a flight to Paris in January for $8,000 -- wonder if that will be taken into consideration for GS qualification this year. Should we expect another round of invites later this week or are we done for the year?

Unfortunately your ticket (and cost) will only count when it's flown. Otherwise everyone would get GS by buying refundable A fare tickets in Dec 2013 and then refunding them a month later.

201,203 PQM. 75k+ spend. Majority of the flights TPAC from HNL in P or Z.

Most people speculate that BIS is used in the cpm calc, not PQM.

Status change to GS? Still 1k shows on my account.
 

I received email about GS notifications. But it still shows 1k on my account. Any one knows what i should do?

Just flew DEN-IAD late on 31 Dec.. Checked the United mobile app a few minutes ago. My MP membership card now reads GS "valid through 1/2015". Renewal update came through well after midnight. ;)

No email notification yet.

I think that happens to everyone (the date automatically changes on 1/1 unlike the site). Possible bug...

Received renewal email with big batch. On app this morning, picture of my GS card now has 1/2015 as exp date.

I'm in the same situation. Will let you know if anything changes.

Same thing here--still 1K on website and membership card copy-though it shows an expiration of 01/2014. Hopefully means system hasn't "gotten to my account yet."

So, I bit the bullet and decided to be "that guy," mainly because I have a friend on an ff ticket I purchased for her who missed her flight. According to MP, there was a computer error last night, and a ton of accounts did not update and are still showing 1K. They're "working on it," however, no idea whether it will fix today or not.
