I guess I should consider going back to AA.

Did you fly on UA metal or partner airlines? That has an impact as well. If you flew on UA metal entirely, you might still have a chance since it seems emails are sent in batches....

In past years, re-qual has been reportedly a lower number than initial qualification for new GS.

Seems to be the case, my spend was less this year and still re-qualified on Friday. I wonder if they take an average of previous and current year spend to determine renewal.

Hi MK,
All my UA miles for the year are in UA except for one leg from LOS to FRA, that's it. Maybe the email will come.
Thanks.:D

2014 Global Services Notification Thread

E-mail came late Friday afternoon. 2014 will be my second year as GS.
131 segments
$49k without taxes
218k PQM
Almost all Z/P fare, very little domestic flights but some flights to/from Europe with inter-European segments on LH.

np05 Dec 22, 2013 9:32 am

For reference, no invitation email (yet)
~120k PQM by EOY
94.5 segments by EOY
$35k spend
mostly ORD->LGA, some ORD->SJC/SFO, and some overseas business fare mixed in
all UA Metal
based in Chicago

Rec'd my notification late Friday. Didn't make GS last year, but did the previous two years.

I'll end up the year with about 103,800 PQM. This is about the same amount of qualifying miles as last year. Spend it consistently about $50,000/year, largely domestic.

The difference, it seems to me, is overseas Business First travel. On years where I do this 2x or more, seems like I get GS.

Truthfully, I see little value in GS. Other than boarding the plane first, I've never rec'd any additional recognition, value or benefits compared to the year of being 1K.

For me, the GS>>1K is being able to use GPU and RPUs on award travel.

No one who is ORD-based would say such a thing!

Got email last Friday
190k BIS, probably 160 on UA metal
150k spend
Been a GS since it began- what's that 8 years?
Would be nice to get some recognition if I make it to year 10 as a GS

That's 79cpm! You must be in the running for the award of UA's most profitable customer.

Then what do you do? Fly other carriers?

Lots of intl travel- hence my user name...

At 3.3MM now, so 700K to hit lifetime GS- prob 3 years more..could be longer as I am increasingly taking the most convenient airline. I had 50K BISmiles on other airlines this year which could have been UA

+1 - GS is a huge difference at ORD.

Got the email Thursday as well, 151k PQM on 62 segments with 3 trips to Shanghai / SIN and 2 or 3 to Europe.

Hope you make 7 figures in the effort to do that.

I don't care if you fly INTL F with Unobtainium status, that much flying would suck.

I was kidding. I agree those flying these ridiculous miles must miss out on quite a bit.
