Is the cushioning on 21B really that bad? Flying BOS-IAH today. Currently in an aisle E-, but considering biting the bullet on the middle seat and going to 21B.

Hi - first time on United in a long, long time. What E+ seat would be better for a long flight (PHX-EWR) - 11A (seems there might be a missing window) or 8A bulkhead? We are on the version where 12DEF are preferred and not E+ seats. This is for a companion traveling with us who is not terribly tall - the wife and I are in row 21, but not much left in E+ since I booked the tickets.

8A on the 739 is a hard bulkhead - it's actually the lav in front of you. Restricted legroom.

21 (exit row) is hard to do better than - you get recline + legroom. If you really want bulkhead, keep an eye out for 7DE, which open (if not deployed for special needs) at T-24.

Thanks! EF showing these as occupied and not blocked, but I have a seat alert created now.

If we can't get her into row 21 next to us, hopefully we can get her in 8D.

Typo? Should be 7DE for the 739.

Watch out for lav exposure from those seats, though. It's not too bad in 7F.

Does 7F have underseat, or is it a hard bulkhead?

For bonus points, same question on the 738.

My recent UA Y experiences (thankfully not many) have been on 319/20.

I am 90% certain the 739 has underseat for row 7.

I am 100% certain at least some 738 configs have underseat, but I don't know if all do. (Tangent: row 4 in F recline appears / feels limited by about an inch, similar to row 5 on the 739.)

On the 739, 7F has ample storage under the seat in front of you (which is the last row of F). Same for 7D. 7E can be problematic as it's the middle seat of the row, and the in-front-of-you area is divided in two, not three.

I haven't seen a to-the-floor bulkhead at row 7 on a 738 in quite a while, but I believe there may be a few still out there.

738 has stowage under the row in front for row 7, at least all the ones I have seen.

I searched for reports on 8C and 8B, but nothing turned up. These are the E+ seats right behind the slim-line lav. And advice on them would be appreciated.

8C is avoid due to lav proximity. There's also no underseat. A pair in E+ farther back would be preferable.

The leg space is a little limited for 8ABC, and if over 6 ft. height / 34 in. inseam it's not great. But if shorter, it can be pretty good. No lav smells.

edit: Kacee might be referring to the lav-pax traffic, which could be an issue in 8C.

We've apparently been on different 739s. That's the only plane where I avoid the bulkhead because of the stench.
