{UA} we’ve decided to discontinue the program as of April 23, 2019.

united.com Club

As we keep evolving the digital experience for our travelers, we’ve decided to discontinue the united.com Club. If you’re a current member, there are a few things we hope you keep in mind.

If you booked any trips before the end of your current membership, we’ll credit any united.com Club benefits to your TravelBank after you’ve completed your trip.

5 April 2018 -- UA started posting an "expiration date", appears to be at least 18 months after most recent activity (some are longer for unknown reasons)
also states
Some of your United®TravelBank Cash may expire on a different date than what’s displayed here. Please check your balance details for a complete history of your United®TravelBank Cash transactions and the expiration date for each amount.
Expiration had previously been in the T&Cs for some time (2 years of inactivity? but now is 18 months) and had stated an ETC would be issued if the funds did timeout. Unclear if that still applies.

The Gift Registry has been disabled since Fall 2017 (Sept?) (appears this may be related to a tax issue?)
As of 5 May 2018, it still states
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details. We expect the page to be up and running again in early 2018.
Around Sept 2018, wording changed to

[e.g., not using the actual amounts involved: $1000 for two tickets, less $700 TravelBank credit --> should have been paid $300 difference; instead, was charged $700].

From the notes on the ticket, it looks like the Add Collect was handled incorrectly.

Don't know if this is just a glitch, or if there is a more general problem with applying TravelBank credits.
Have you spoke to anyone about this yet?
I have the same problem one for $25 the other for $200. TravelBank was used but then, as happened to you I noticed it charged my credit card the travel Bank amounts I applied; $25 and $200. This is definitley a glitch. I've used Travel Bank for 6+ yrs and it's very good. However, 2-3 times I have to deal with descrepancies and it takes some patience to get resolved.

I just had two trips that were Thursday 4/5 departure / Sunday 4/8 return show up as pending.

The major issue that I'm having is that the stupid T-24 auto PNR split is killing me and I'm losing out on a lot of credit! I purchase for a lot of travelers, many of whom have some level of status. This results in me missing credit for probably half of the trips since the new website launched. Do these eventually get fixed via audit, or am I going to have to engage in some painful email/phone communications to get these properly credited? Can someone tell me what used to happen on the CO system when someone split off of the original PNR?

These will not get auto-fixed, you have to chase them down. This is also the case if you do SDC, VDB, reroute for IRROPS, forget to spit backwards over your left shoulder three times before you click "purchase," or book when Jupiter is improperly aligned with Saturn.

This is the annoying part of the feature, but FWIW, I've always gotten full credit when I send an email in with ticket numbers for the itins I haven't received credit for.

Travelbank <> United.com club = Travel Club

I think the terms being used in this thread (& at United) are confusing - and in this thread not quite accurate.

I think this would be way to describe the terms being used now:

Travel Bank - appears to be something all Mileage Plus members now have. It is where credits from united.com club (formerly Travel Club), Gift certificates, 1K Global Entry credit, and I'm not sure what else get deposited. There is no fee to have or use Travel Bank.

united.com Club = formerly Travel Club is a program that has annual fee of $25 and is supposed to rebate $5 for each ticket purchased on United.com for members. The rebates are credited to the MP member's Travel Bank.

united.com club - https://www.united.com/web/en-US/app...b/default.aspx
TravelBank - https://www.united.com/web/en-US/con...ravelbank.aspx

That's annoying, but at least it seems that you get credit in the end. How long do you wait after the flights until you submit ticket numbers, and how long is the turnaround usually? What's the email address to send these requests to?

Given how much of a mess it is, I'm probably just going to refer to my credit card statement and email all of the 005 and 016 ticket numbers that appear for the past few months. I honestly don't feel like trying to go through and audit myself to make a list of "missing" credits that they can't manage to track properly.

Usually, I can tell in advance which flights are going to miss the sweep/trigger/whatever it is in their system that gives you the credit. But the ones that work properly are in there within a couple days, sometimes before miles even post. If you've gone a full week, the ticket isn't properly synced. Turnaround for getting the credit can be anywhere from two weeks to over two months, just as people have reported with emailing in about essentially any other issue. I used to send to [email protected], but my most recent email to them (re: exactly this issue) was returned with a message to instead contact the web support desk () and then followed by another email from a different CSR who actually fixed the missing credit. Who knows these days?

I'm of a mixed opinion on this. I mean, perhaps you could make a list and then just briefly go through and try to find some of the ones that were already credited? Not just for the headache you might save them, but I wonder if you could run across a snippy CSR who returned your email with a "We're sorry, sir, but many of these flights have been credited already. Please compile an accurate list and try again." My $0.02...

Bread & Circusses?

United management must be pretty darned pleased with themselves over the idea that they can get people so happy about a $5 rebate per flight (once they've bought into the "club") and then spend so much time & energy trying to track it... what a great way to distract flyers from far more serious issues!

$5 buys you a medium (or "grande") latte, something people wouldn't go out of their way to get a discount on, yet many drink them every single day, far more often than they fly.

Then again, I've never understood the allure to drink chits either.

Maybe this is a trial for the 2013 2P program? Cut out the remaining benefits (one piece of luggage, E+ at 24 hours... think that's about all that's left) and just offer them a $5 cash rebate for each flight booked on UA.com.

This is one strange thread.

Good point. That's exactly why I'm not a member of the united.com club.

Sure, I could pay the $25 and probably buy 20 tickets and make $100. But for that $75 profit in funny money, it would probably cost me a few hours of aggravation since this is all run on CO's flaky systems, and as you know, this stuff probably would never post reliably.

Many of us have already spent enough time on the phone with UA since 3/3 reconciling systems-induced problems. The last thing we need is more of that sort of thing, just to save $4 a ticket.

We should all take that $25 and donate it to the SHARES Victim Relief Fund and put it to better use.

If I understand correctly, travelbank will allow me to manage my gift certificates. However, I don't see how to combine them. In particular, I was given $100 UA gift card by email, but there's no place to insert the code.

Also I assume that if I Have a gift registry, I should be able to add all the gifts into a single amount. Am I right?

Am I not understanding it's functionality correctly?

Applied Travel Bank cash, and then United charged me for it.

I bought a ticket on 4/13 and applied $50 in Travel Bank cash to a $215.60 ticket, and merrily printed off my receipt. My credit card was charged $180.47, as I expect. My travel bank balance went down to $0.00.

On 4/18, something odd happened and the same method of payment got charged $50. My e-ticket receipt now says:

"An additional amount for the difference in fare was charged to VISA VIXXXXXXXXXXXX#### on Sunday, March 18, 2012. $50.00 USD per ticket for an additional total of $50.00 USD was collected."

Anyone else run into this? It's a corporate card and is aggravating to have charges on it that are completely unexpected. My travel bank balance is also still $0.00.

I'd probably edit your post and check to see if your card got double charged or whatever. Otherwise you're going to have half the forum exploiting this.

Several other people have had issues using a Travel Bank balance. I'd call about it. Good thing you printed your receipt!

I would NOT call about it... double check the actual charges that posted to your account. if you got double charged that's one thing, but you may want to keep this to yourself otherwise

What is there here to exploit? Sounds like UA collected the $50 twice - once from the TravelBank and a few day's later from the OP's cc.

If "exploit" means double paying for something, I'm not sure half the forum will jump on it..

Definitely check your CC statement. Receipts for TravelBank redemption have always been strange for me (add-collects, $0 fares, TravelBank as the only FOP when I used a CC for the balance) but I've never been double-charged on any of the dozens of instances I've used TravelBank cash.

Hopefully it's just some screwy accounting. FYI, if you call, it is possible for Electronic Service Desk agents to manually restore your TravelBank balance, it just requires some 'massaging'.
