That looks better than what United serves on International F segments!

Den-ewr ua f

UA #469
DEN-EWR
4:44pm departure
A-319
January 21, 2012
Dinner

Side salad
Herbed chicken breast with mashed potatoes and green beans
Cheese ravioli (other choice - not pictured)
Warm chocolate chip cookie (not pictured)

Rather uninspiring meal, typical airplane food. Salad greens near end of useful life. Small pieces of morels in the sauce (^). I much prefer CO mid-con catering. Though the nuts were warm and served in a ramekin. Yippie.

CO 1286 DCA-IAH
7:25 departure
Same cold snack plate as below.
Pre departure beverage.

Kind of silly for a 3 hour dinner time route in my opinion.

Agreed - it is completely unacceptable IMO that the dinner window (posted above) ends at 7:00 pm.

I had this dinner thrice on ORD-SFO (three-class 767) this month, and I have to say, the herb chicken breast with morel gravy is a huge improvement from the plain zebra-striped chicken with runny gravy that used to be common.

Even worse:

Last night flight UA 3657 AUS to IAD
5:08 PM Departure and 9:08 Arrival
We had a snack box that was a random assortment from the normal buy onboard including the pepper parmesan spread, olives, potato chips, etc. It was on a CRJ 700 so a bit more understandable, but still unfortunate.
We did have a choice of predeparture drinks.

I usually have the eggs dish for breakfast, but I ventured outside the box this weekend; god, was that a mistake.

PS F
SFO-JFK

The french toast was hard and toasted. Literally crunchy. The guy next to me even commented that he could hear me biting into what is supposed to be a moist and warm dish. Abysmal.

I am flying that route two times in the coming weeks -- I'll go back to my mainstay!

CO's catering on whole (I agree with the CO fans here) is better than UA's. However, the "Cold Plate" is an abomination. I would the take UA "snack" of cold chicken pasta salad, etc. any day over it.

I have been on too many ex IAH flights where I have had to run from one side of the terminal to the other and not had time to stop anywhere to get a meal of substance only to have had the "Cold Plate" foisted on me.

For sure. I actually like the cold chicken pasta salad because its hard to mess it up. And sometimes, its better get a sure fire, mediocre plate than a potentially really bad meal. For example the French Toast above or the omelette (can we even call that an omelette?) mentioned many times in the thread.

I think the UA cold pasta salad with chicken is the best entree I've ever eaten on United.

Yes, that includes international premium fare as well.

I haven't done extensive premium flying with other carriers, but I know that beef short ribs do not require a chainsaw to slice through, the side dishes of rice aren't supposed to be crunchy because they've been left in the oven for so long, and sandwiches aren't supposed to be soaked in globs of melted cheese!

This may have changed, but is Gate Gourmet still the contracted caterer for PMUA metal?
