IAH-LHR

Does the IAH-LHR flight receive a hot breakfast option upon arrival or is it the cold plate they use from EWR & IAD?

It should have three options prior to arrival:

1. Omelet similar to domestic F breakfast
2. Cereal
3. Deli Plate

Not all EWR TATL flights are deli plate, my EWR-IST had three options prior to arrival, but the F/A did not wake me up

Not saying you're wrong, but what's your reasoning?

When I was young we would have Cioppino every year at a Sacramento Portuguese club's annual fund raiser (Cabrillo Club)...it was made very clear to me that Cioppino was of Portuguese origin .

Back to topic a little...it is very good if made right but I would think kind of messy for an airplane meal.

I have an upcoming segment from SFO-PEK in J. I know there have been some horror stories about catering out of PEK on this thread, but is it safe to assume that the exSFO food should be fine? Anyone done this route in September and feel like sharing the menu?

IST-EWR C/J

IST-EWR
UA905
Departure: 13.55 (actual 18.00 - delayed due to late incoming aircraft, which was delayed because of mechanical-lavatory. They even told IST passengers not to use the lavatories while on ground, not wanting a busted toilet in IST)
Aircraft: 767-300 PMUA Ghetto Bird Reconfig Lieflat
Seat: 1K (was 1D, then seat config changed to ghetto bird, and they lost my assignment)

PBD: Anything

Menu pg1

Menu pg2

Wine List

Appetizer - Salmon with capers and Prosciutto

Salad

Main - Filet of Salmon with Linguine

Sundae

Pre-Arrival Snack - Chicken and Pepper Sandwich

LSG Sky Chef - part of me was hoping Do & Co was going to cater out of IST, guess not

Again, average service, I think the crew/passengers were all frustrated with the 4h delay, I know lots had connecting flights. I was transiting from PRN, so I am glad that my prolonged stopover was in IST, inside TK's wonderful lounge.

SEP 2012 NRT-SFO
The beef was great but I don't like the suace.
The Ice cream was good but I prefer the Ice cream on AA.
I was glad that I didn't select UA's Japanese meal since it hasn't been changed at least for 3 or 4 years. In addition, compare to DL's Japanese meal,
UA's Japanese meal is pathetic.

TO BEGIN
*Chilled Appetizer
*Fresh Seasonal Greens
Cucumber, bell pepper and croutons with your choice of dressing
MAIN COURSE
*Pan-seared Filet Mignon
Mushroom bordelaise sauce, Asiago potato pie, green beans and carrots
TO FINISH
*International Cheese Selection
Grapes and crackers with Noval Fine Ruby Port
*Desert
Ice cream with your choice of toppings

Bonus:
Japanese meal on DL from Tokyo to US

UA896 HKG-ORD on 9/6/12. BF, 744 main deck. The menu is exactly as listed by Carfield in post #456 above.

Filet Mignon, which was actually not overcooked and tasted pretty good:

Sea Perch. Not that tasty, but the fried rice was surprisingly good:

Mid-flight "not-instant" noodles, as pushed by the nice FA:

NRT-TPE September 2012 Global First

It does not really matter whether is Global First or BusinessFirst, the menu choices are the same.

The menu has not changed for years as far as I can tell from flying intra-Asia flights in the last couple of years.

Interestingly. after flying UA for over 20 years to the Pacific, this was my first ever UA flight to Taipei.

Flew C LHR-LAX - first time in C since January. The food offerings have changed massively and, I fear, mostly for the worse.

Pluses
Wine selection somewhat improved
Glassware improved
Presentation seemed a little better, or maybe I'm imagining it.

Minuses
Appetizer was tiny and not nice at all - two different salmon preparations with a huge tub of odd sauce.
Main course choices were disappointing. I chose lamb which was extremely tough, overcooked and dry. The vegetables were stone cold and inedible.
Ice cream with caramel sauce was fine but not really appropriate for a business class lunch.

More relevantly, the pre-landing snack was grotesque. It was a re-heated cheeseburger, with a small fruit salad. I was in the forward section of business and only one person ate their hamburger, out of 16. It looked far worse than anything you would get at McDonalds or Burger King, let alone Wendy's. The FAs reported that they nowadays raided the economy section because everyone in C was desperate for something to eat which was not the cheeseburger. Please, please bring back the scone with clotted cream and finger sandwiches!

Such a shame that UA gets its hard product right, on this flight gets very good FAs and then serves to its customers.
