You can use the day passes for the UC lounge, right?
I have a CX-CX connection with a 5 hr layover in HKG and figured it would be worth the $20 or so for the Chase day pass from an eBay

Yes, but no others (unless something from CX/OW, in which case definitely use them!)

The good news is that with the latest renovations, there's not really a bad lounge at HKG.
That being said, I agree with EnvoyBoy.
The SQ lounge has good food, and there's a genuine attempt at a classy décor. Unfortunately, the lack of windows completely ruins it for me. The new design is a major step above the old design which didn't feature bathrooms or showers. But, given the sheer distance from the UA gates, I find it difficult to justify a visit. There's also something a bit sad about being in the darkness at an airport that's so famous for its luminous and airy architecture. The only factor that you may want to consider is that first class passengers benefit from a sit-down dinner option with waiter service.
The United Club is one of United's nicer lounges, with showers, hot food, and great views. My main gripe is that it does get pretty busy around flight times, and power outlets are still missing in some spots.
This makes imho the THAI lounge the ideal alternative - it's right around the corner from the UC, it's quiet, offers better food, and affords the same views. The design is modern and clean without being luxurious, but all the amenities that you may need are available.
The THAI First Class lounge is only a separate room, so perhaps it doesn't have the cachet of a completely standalone lounge, but it's really classy and quiet.

I think the Thai F lounge should be better than the UA F lounge.
I was rather disappointed with the UA F Lounge. I felt the old SQ lounge was better just less views.
I would assume the Thai lounge will be the best of all of it.
Than of course all 3 lounges cannot compare with LH-F in FRA.

Last time in the UA lounge there was a long wait for a shower (expected wait time past my connecting flight boarding). Went over to the Thai lounge and no wait at all, plus very nice facility.

United lounge and Thai lounge both suck. Just like every other lounge ive ever been in.
Go to Pizza Express and enjoy some decent pizza and beer instead.

At United Club now 10:30 pm local time roughly. I must say the late evening offerings of food are much better than the morning offering. Lufthansa must be paying UA good money.
