You don't need to fly BR front cabin in order to use VS Clubhouse in HKG, a *G card flying BR any class is sufficient.

I am not impressed by the food at VS Clubhouse at HKG at all, mainly because ALL food or drinks MUST be ordered, no self serve station at all other than just some plastic wrapped mini sandwiches, therefore you may need to wait for a while for someone to take your order and deliver your food when the particular time slot is operated by a 747 or 77W that full of *G and C or RL/PL pax. Besides, the menus is rather limited compare to any other VS Clubhouses, just 3 starters and 3 entrees, the portions are tiny, so when you find out your stomach is not satisfied, you will have to order and wait again for the 2nd to be delivered, even the one in SFO is better.

Good to know, thank you. I was one of the first in for an early A321 to Taipei. As I departed, I see what you mean as it started filling up with Delta passengers quickly.

Traveling on TG F on a near noon flight, should we use TG or UA F? The 2 lounges seem to practically across the corridor from each other per the HKG map.

They're close...not actually sure what you get in the F side of the TG lounge (not a separate room IIRC like the UA GFL).

I'd actually do UC on this one, at least at the start.

Thanks for info.

On the TG forum I found a thread discussing the TG and UA, as well as the Premium Plaza lounge nearby - seems Premium lounge actually is the best of all 3 with one exception - only bottle beer is free at Premium lounge for the Priority Pass cardholders according to the Priority Pass site versus I suppose the wine is complementary in both UC and TG.

The thread in TG Forum also claims foods are better at UC side even though both are catered by Premium Plaza.

Who would have thought UA could have a lounge better than the Asian airlines offerings...

Wow, I love the VS Clubhouses in JFK and LHR, never tried this one so disappointed to hear that it is not that good.

If you have time, why not visit both? Go to the TG lounge first because you need not spend a lot of time there, then head over to the UA lounge.

My last visit to the TG FC lounge was a few years ago and not good. Some guy came in with an entourage of 15 people from kids to colleagues. After a few minutes on the phone one of his guys assembled all the Thai speaking employees in a line. Our big mucky muck stood up and addressed them in Thai for 15 minutes. Very loud with fist shaking and no regard to the passengers who were there. After his speech there was 3-4 minutes of clapping, no joke. I guess they could not find any meeting rooms on short notice for so many people! All the servers had come in to watch as well blocking my escape path. Then they went and served this guy and his entourage, but no one else! I still like and fly TG, but the airline is not run professionally and it has so much unrealized potential.

I think I read somewhere that in the evening when the actual VS flight departs, it has a different menus with completely different food offerings for the VS pax. And it has much better food than the standard menus.

I would finish at the TG F lounge. As a TG F passenger you will get transport/escort to your flight. They will record your flight number as they check you in.

I have been to both and IMO, the food is a bit better at the TG F lounge. You can hop over to the TG business lounge and hit their buffet.

However the decor and amenities at the UA F lounge are superior. Really nice shower rooms. Very quiet.

The TG F lounge is a roped off area in the TG lounge as a whole. It is very open and airy. Lots of sun and in my experience can be a bit noisy (from the C/J side of the lounge). The UA F lounge is a separate lounge feels more like an exclusive club room. But I have been there in the late afternoon (direct sun) and it was a bit warm for me.

Both have good food and beverage service.

Just my impressions and as always YMMV.

Has the SQ Lounge renovation at the HKIA been completed and the lounge been re-open for *A Gold member access?

I was there yesterday. It is open and pretty nicely done. There are bathrooms and showers available INSIDE the lounge. Many on this board has criticized the old lounge had no toilets, but now it is not an issue anymore.

I was there for a morning flight so the food offerings were not as good as I remembered from the visits to the old lounge in the afternoon. I will be there again this coming Wednesday in the afternoon, so hope to see food offerings improve.

Overall, nicely done by SQ, there is also a first class lounge. the work stations are very nice if one is looking for places to work while in the lounge. I hope to post photos after my second visit to the lounge this Wednesday.

Is it still located near gate 15-16? Is the Häagen-Dazs icecream fridge still there?

I was disappointed only to see a KE lounge there during my last visit at HKG this September.

+1 for TG from me, but I have only one experience to go by just a few months ago. On that occasion, the RCC was packed. The TG lounge was far more peaceful.

Someone from the SQ forum posted a link from BusinessTraveler-Asia Pacific of the new SQ lounge in HKG report.

http://www.businesstraveller.asia/as...rlines-silverk

All I can say is the C lounge dining area looks like a fast food restaurant or school cafeteria.
