Lovely. Thanks rcspeirs, corporate-wage-slave et al! I have booked a day off work next Monday - it may be legal now from what you say, but next Monday feels more compliant with me the spirit of the restrictions.

Hopefully the sun will be shining on the South Downs. I am so looking forward to it!

Just be aware that the South Downs can be very popular and car parking can be an issue. The weather is looking pretty good for the next week though.

Great news! Hopefully you'll be fine. I had AZ 5 days ago and not a single side effect!

Well, touch wood, but all good so far. I have a very slight ache at the injection site, and some very mild fluishness, but nothing really to speak of. And really impressed at the organisation - not just of the site, but the way they are able to distribute leftover doses.

How did that work - did you sign up for getting contacted in case they had leftover doses?

I didn't sign up - it's down to the local GP practices. There are two in the town (with satellite branches in the villages) who club together for various things, including this. When there's been leftover doses, they've simply been texting batches of patients in the next cohort with a link to a booking site (with times from basically 10 minutes away, into the evening). If you want it, you click your time, confirm, and get a text which you show at the centre entrance. They tap your details in once you're inside, and it goes straight on your patient record.

All very smooth.

Despite the strong suggestions recently that it wouldn't happen until May due to being the "wrong" side of 50, I received the magic text from my GP this morning and am booked in for my vaccination tomorrow afternoon. So it seems as though some of us in the late 40s group (very late in my case) are still being officially invited into the inner circle...!

Don't forget to roll up one trouser leg and do the special FT handshake.

A mate of mine who is 40 years old got a text yesterday and has an appointment for his first jab this Friday.

When they finally reach us Gen X folks I'll make sure to turn out the lights on the way out.

That's impressive indeed! :tu: I don't think my GP practice offers this, but I'll check with them just in case

Early 40s are being done in some areas of London.

Apparently we baby boomers did that already? :)

I know this thread is vaguely about UK lockdowns, but odd things are going on in Germany:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has cancelled plans for a strict lockdown over Easter, just a day after the measures were announced.

Calling the plan a "mistake", Mrs Merkel said she took "ultimate responsibility" for the U-turn.

The proposed lockdown was agreed with regional leaders on Monday, with restrictions set to be tightened between 1-5 April.

But the plan was reversed following a crisis meeting on Wednesday.

It had been widely criticised by business leaders and scientists.
It looks like BJ is not the only expert when it comes to U-turns.

And Biggleswade :) Well, we're getting the scraps at the end of the day <insert inter-generational quip here>.
