Why not just come to the UK? WE are considering going to the US if things slow down too much here. Yours is a much shorter trip

Two return flights ... each return requiring potentially four PCR tests to be paid for (although could be down to two or three if timed well), isolation in the UK, isolation on the return ... I'm debating it but the easy option is to just wait it out.

They can sometimes rectify it if it's slighly out tolerance, but I'm speculating whether this is the cause.
Yes I understand, hubby makes sourdough bread very well, his starter is a few years old.
When is the Moderna vaccine due, can this help make up the shortfall?

We were originally told "end of March", now I hear "April". As with all things vaccine related, we can't be sure until the boxes arrive really.

I'm also interested in what is going on with Moderna - I thought it was coming online this month?

Sounds like a delay on Moderna has put the breaks on.

That suggests that the problem is with AZ production outside the UK but being imported for domestic use (e.g. AZ in the EU or India). AZ in the UK and Pfizer have both said this evening that they expect to deliver as planned. Maybe just a bit of expectation management / don't over do it with the 40s since we have the second doses to do. Or indeed Moderna.

Is this anything to do with the headlines saying EU threatens to veto vaccine deliveries into UK? The timing is a bit suspicious. I hope EU didn't blackmail AZ into keeping vaccines produced in EU in the EU like what happened with Australian deliveries.

I think HMG will have to say more about the sudden change as Hancock's answer wasn't really an answer and it's front page news all over the UK press.

According to the Telegraph, there will be a shortage of 5 million doses in April due to issues with AZ production in India resulting in a 4 week delay.

It's still not adding up very well. Every vaccine I have administered was made in Puurs, Keele, Oxford or Wrexham, none of which are apparently under supply shortage. They are clearly able to produce a decent wadge of vaccines every week, as witnessed by this week, so something is missing here. The source of this story was a letter within the NHS, reporting on what they were told by the arms-length Vaccines Taskforce, the writers don't know the details and tha Taskforce keeps their cards close to their collective chests.

[India sounds more plausible, since that's Joint Venture rather than central AZ but this would have been extra to current throughput].

Yeah doesn't add up does it. HMG need to come clean on this, we can't rely on the media to speculate about it as vaccines are the UK's current top national priority above anything else.

Is it possible that a batch is off in EU facilities, and that the UK is playing the adult in the room and offering some UK manufactured batches to the EU as a gesture of goodwill?

Given recent events, I think we can safely rule out that scenario!

Well that explains why all the appointments in April have disappeared.

I had been keeping a close eye hoping to book Mrs Wilsnunn (a doctor currently on maternity leave) as soon as our 10 day self isolation ends towards the middle of April. Prior to today, appointments until 10 April were available in Norwich, checking now it is only 31 March showing as bookable, nothing else.

All my friends in Israel are already vaccinated (both shots) and they are 20+ years old. It seems like in Israel it really works...
