Relatively painless for me.

Sent them a BA and BD card scan plus a couple of screenshots of status showing a few recent flights, and I'm now in as Elite and therefore *G till May 2014.

Now need to change the profile and replace the BD Gold reference.

Same for me with a FB Plat card, last two statements and here we go for Elite (*G until May 2014)

Thanks TK and I'll definitely be opting for you to travel in the future ! ^

WOW, the card arrived after only 8 days!! Superfast, A3 and Starwood have something to learn here :)

But I am amazed how cheap and bad the luggage tags are. They are totally useless.

No, I would have to say that they're pretty decent (be thankful that you're actually getting one). Although they're about half the size of traditional baggage tags, they're relatively sturdy compared to the Air France-KLM Flying Blue tags I have (although those are full-size and look pretty nice, they crack after one flight).

And these ones have place on the back to write down your personal particulars.

toyotaboy95 makes a good point - smaller and more flexible tags are harder to break than large, rigid ones.

The TK luggage tags in themselves don't look too bad - it is the little leather strap thing that makes them seem cheap.

Wrote in and got a reply from them to say that they never match to Elite + !

Got informed, rather rudely, the same after I explained that I was Flying Blue Platinum - but it isn't unexpected.

but did you take the Elite tier then? Elite and Elite+ are both Star Alliance Gold.

Is FB Platinum giving you 2 Business Class upgrades ?
So TK Elite Level (*Gold - Lounge Access) is similar to FB Platinum ;)

Success

I sent in a copy of my UA 1K Card, March UA statement and a copy of my AA EXP card Thursday morning.

No response from TK, however, I checked my account this morning and I am now an Elite/Star Alliance Gold through May 31, 2014.

I am very excited about this. Hopefully the plastic comes soon so I can take advantage of lounge access.

Aren't you already UA 1K (i.e. *G)?

Yes ;), that's why I specifically requested Elite Plus instead of Elite (similar amount of miles flown with FB Plat and TK Elite Plus but mainly wanted it for the 2 upgrades). Their decision however is perfectly understandable - they're trying to protect the integrity of the top tier, and it would really be overly generous if they decide to match to that level especially considering that when one does not re-qualify they would still get *G (soft-landing to Elite).

Data point: They match DL Gold (SkyTeam Elite Plus) to TK Elite (Star Gold). I mentioned that I fly to India and TK provides good connections to/from the US and would like to try them out.

Emailed Friday morning, got response Tuesday morning. Will see how long card takes, hopefully not too long as I have a *A flight in 3 weeks and would like lounge access.

They matched AA EXP (OneWorld Emerald) to Elite - *A gold with an expiration date of May 2014. I plan to fly about 25K miles on UA this year. That would give me Silver on UA for one year or Gold on TK for 2 plus lounge access on my domestic and international flights.

Just curious, if you fly 25K this year, would that extend the expiration to May 2016? Not really sure how it would work ...

I have about 23K coming up and am going to put it to UA just for the RDMs. Two years of *G seems to be good enough, especially with A3 providing an easy way to (re)qual as well.

I have to fly 25K by next May since that is the expiration of my membership year. According to post 33 here, that will give me an additional 2 years - so a new expiration date of 2016:

I emailed [email protected] 2 weeks ago. Still no reply. Any ideas what to do?
