I asked if they would match my status with Air France/KLM. Their response:

As I wrote months ago: TK isn't aware of the concept of "matching status".

In certain markets they are very aware of this concept, just not generally from their central office however. That being said, over the years I was personally offered top TK status on at least 3 occasions before I eventually accepted it.

Right but it is so easy to acquire status with TK (every mile count 1 mile; just 40K miles for Gold; First class seat and you are matched...) that really I do not see why they should do status match.:rolleyes:

Because, if I'm going to get it anyway with so few flights, they might as well make those first few flights enjoyable for me as they bring me into the fold. :)

I am not aware of Intra-alliance status matches

Bump - as last experience was 18months ago and has not really been backed up...

I'm Star Gold and SkyTeam Elite Plus and flying quite often to Turkey.

Given that my current *G airline may well soon cease to exist and looking around TK seems a pretty good alternative (and a nice airline to fly) is there anyone I can talk to to get a status match? Not so interested in miles (I have enough), but the thought of flying without status while working through those first levels sucks...

You do know that you can credit to one Star FFP, whilst using the benefits of another. Granted it is a bit of hassle but it is worth it.
Use your BD status to get lounge, check-in and luggage benefits while you credit flights to TK.

Sorry to bump this thread but I'm hoping that in the past two years, TK which has changed a lot over that period has become aware of the concept of status match? :) Is it so? Any advice or guideline? Can show them evidence of top tier with both Oneworld (BA Gold) and Skyteam (AF Plat). And yes, I know that I can credit miles to TK and use my BD gold for lounges but since god knows how long BD DC will even exist, I'd rather pre-empt and do a status match if they will.
