Caveat: I had the same scenario, meeting 40K during the first membership year, but during the second membership year TK was telling me I need another 20K miles. Since I was flying close to 20K miles in the second year I didn't want to take a chance and took a short and cheap flight to get to 60K in 2 years. The benefit of E+ is too much to pass up once you get here.

I should be grateful if someone would clarify the check in and lounge arrangements at BJV as I am a little unclear about the following on TK's website:
"Passengers travelling on domestic flights from Bodrum Airport will now have to head to the check-in counters in Terminal A, instead of Terminal B. The change will be effective as of 6 a.m., Dec. 5 and will not apply to the passengers who use Turkish Airlines lounge in the airport."
I will be flying in J.
Thanks.

By the way, when you use E+ upgrades, do you get business class miles and then a negative correction entry or just economy miles? I have a strange negative entry in my statement and I'm not sure where it came from (I haven't even flown my upgraded flight yet).

Nonstopski,
As of March 1, when you fly a Star Alliance Carrier on 016 (United) Ticket stock you earn miles based on dollars spent and MP Status (i.e. Gold, 1K, etc). If you fly on TK stock (235) you get the actual miles flown with some very few exceptions based on fare class. If your parents fly 2-4 times per year from USA-Amman, assuming they stick with Star alliance and log all the miles in one program, they are already at least Gold. So, for RDM earnings, there will be little change in the amounts earned after March 1. If your parents prefer Flying TK, why don't you have them ask TK for a status match based on their UA MP status. As Star Alliance goes, TK is the best for flights USA to the Levant region as UA only flies to Kuwait/Bahrain/Dubai and the connections to AMM, CAI and such are not so great. With UA you're left with connecting in FRA to LH or maybe VIE via OS or ZRH via LX.

I don't think my parents are worried about status. Dad already has it on Turkish based on his frequent flights. Mom doesn't have it on either airline (TK or UA) as far as I know.

My Understanding is if you post 20K in your first year or 37.5K cumulative by the end of your second year. Your membership will extend for 2 additional years. So in effect, if you post that you will expire in 2019. Any TK specialists want to confirm my understanding? Thanks and Safe Travels..

I had the latter. Again, at TK nothing surprises me as anything can/could happen. Even though in my scenario for renewal, 40K+ was probably more than enough, but I knew something could go wrong and I was so close to it so I took extra flight (I needed to get somewhere anyway) as it's much harder to get to E+ these days.

Holding reservation on Turkish Air?
Hi, I had issues yesterday trying to book a flight for my daughter..tried again today and got all the way through to asking if I wanted to hold the reservation. Yes!
Now a few questions..first it states that 'Please note that your latest ticket pick up time is 19.March 23:00 CHICAGO local time' - does this work like other airlines as in she can log back in and pay by that time to have it ticketed?
It didn't ask for any secure information - just name and birth date. Will it ask for passport info once she pays?
Will she be able to call and add her United MP# to this itinerary? When I tried to do this in the initial information page yesterday - that is where it hung up. So I didn't even try this time.
Thank you!

Hmm, OK, maybe I'll call them to confirm after it happens then (not that I'd expect them to be able to give a good answer)

Elite Mileage Accrual ??
Hi There,
I took my first flight as TK Elite (matched with UA Gold). I had a W class
economy ticket from BOS-IST-DXB. I received 25% of the flown miles as status
miles. Should I receive 25% elite bonus as well ? I see 0 bonus miles for this trip. I was not able to find the option to request the bonus miles on TK website.
Thanks for your response in advance..
