First time applicant. How hard is it to report change of passport docs with Nexus and GE? We have an interview beginning of April for my family with my current passport on the application, my passport expires in mid November and I was thinking of applying for a new one soon before my intl trip end of April.
Should I apply for a new one before or after our interview? Which would be less of a hassle with both customs? I thought maybe they'd want only the docs on the original application. Is changing docs info a matter of filling out an online form? Or I need to schedule an interview again with the new passport? Which is in YEG over 3 months to get one? Thx If possible, I'd get the NEXUS card first then apply for a new passport after your trip and during a period that you won't use your NEXUS card too much. Related question: I wonder if you link the NEXUS card to an enhanced driver's license then apply for a new passport, will you have continuous use of the NEXUS card. I don't know if you are able to remove the passport from the NEXUS/GOES application. I also don't know if a passport is required. Americans can get a passport card. I wonder if you can get a passport card, link that to NEXUS, remove your passport, renew your passport so as to get uninterrupted NEXUS use? |

New digital sign at Peace Arch (Blaine, WA) northbound: "$124 fine for blocking NEXUS lane". Excellent! Tried. |

Now all they need is some enforcement. Last evening 5 minutes before NEXUS closing (and with a 60+ minute regular wait) there were 3 cars blocking the lane. When I started to go around them one of the drivers seemed to think I was trying to cut in and tried to cut me off. Tried. |

I just hope it all works out that way, but I remain a little concerned about many reported instances of different interpretation of the rules at different places. |
Can you change your interview date post 30?

You need to schedule it within 30 days. From the GOES FAQ:
Problem is I am not sure when I will be back at a border city. Can I make an interview for when I think I will be there (in about 3 months) and then if it changes, change the interview. It might be two but it also might be 4 months. Anyone who knows or has done it, thanks. |
Long time lurker... first time poster! :)
Just did my Nexus interview today at Lansdowne, took absolutely no time at all (I was even in 15 minutes early!). Both CBSA and CBP agents were quite friendly and helpful and filled me in on most of what I needed to know... the rest I already knew from here! LOL All told, roughly 2 months from application to finalization. |

I renewed my passport last week and changed the information on the GOES website without difficulty. And just to try to be sure, I read everything I could find and nowhere did it say that the new document had to be seen at an office. Then I phoned the 800 number that I found somewhere on the GOES/Nexus site and the agent checked my file and said "you are good to go".

Looks like even at a Nexus only bridge, one can still experience problems:
http://niagara-gazette.com/local/x56...Bridge-traffic Hope that is not the case over Easter as we are planning to hit the Whirlpool Bridge that weekend coming back from US on Easter Sunday. I don't think Easter Sunday is traditionally a "big shopping day", but who knows these days? |
Reviewing the travel safety and security forum today I noticed that Infants and Children under 14 can now apply for GE. Does anyone have knowledge about Infants with Nexus Cards using the GE kiosks? I would like to opportunity of unisng GE kiosks at YYC as the only functioning Nexus kiosk usually has a line up.
I will find out and report back the information I find to this thread. Among the topics of interest: 1) Are there any additional procedures (e.g similar to finger print scan) to get an Infant with Nexus Card onto the GE system? 2) Do infants/children have to submit finger prints 3) Does the GE kiosk recognise the infant status and skip the required fingerprint scan? 4) Do infants/children with Nexus or GE get front of the line privileges for seeing a CBP officer? |

Timeline:
Applied Feb 5, Conditional approval March 15. Can't seem to get any interviews anytime soon convenient, so I've signed up to do the interview in Detroit this weekend. Any experience with Detroit? If I decide to turn around right after the interview and head back to DTW and fly out, do I even need to enter Canada? Is Detroit one of the places requesting birth certificates? Never talked to CBP - I assume because I already have Global Entry. Chat with CBSA took about 20 minutes due to having to explain some unusual circumstances, but no problems at all. Only docs required were passports and drivers license. No approval letter or birth certificate needed. |
NEXUS GE Upgrade @ YYZ - Appointment required for fingerprinting?
I'm a current NEXUS member and would like to upgrade my NEXUS to GE privileges. My GOES account says that I need to make an appointment in order to get my fingerprints taken (they were not taken when I first enrolled in NEXUS a long time ago) but I seem to be unable to do this online.
Can I just walk in to the enrollment centre at YYZ and get my fingerprints taken, without an appointment (similar to a document update) or is an appointment actually required? Any recent experiences would be greatly appreciated. |
