Remote Interview Pilot for Trusted Traveler Programs
Eligible Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) members can now complete enrollment interviews with a CBP officer through video teleconferencing, while ensuring that the remote interview process maintains high security and privacy standards.
Eligibility
Some renewing Global Entry members who are conditionally approved are eligible to participate in the pilot. Renewing NEXUS, FAST and SENTRI members will be integrated into the pilot through a phased approach. First-time TTP applicants are not yet eligible to participate. NEXUS and FAST-North interviews at Canadian enrollment centers remain suspended until further notice.
Criteria
To be eligible for the remote interview pilot, TTP members must:
- Be conditionally approved for a TTP renewal;
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Have a photo on file with CBP that was taken (1) within the past 10 years, and (2) after the applicant was 14 years of age; and
- Have previously submitted fingerprints to CBP.
To schedule a remote interview, eligible applicants may log into their TTP dashboard and select the “Scheduling Your Remote Interview” link. CBP recommends that applicants verify their e-mail address of record by using the “Edit Profile” link prior to scheduling a remote interview. Doing so will ensure that the applicant receives appointment details and reminders.
Technology Requirements
CBP will use Zoom for government videoconferencing software to conduct the remote interviews. Applicants should ensure that their computer, tablet, or smartphone has a working microphone and camera, and that their device is capable of running the Zoom platform prior to scheduling their interview appointment.
Document Requirements
Applicants who schedule remote interviews will be able to access a virtual waiting room up to 15 minutes prior to their scheduled interview time through their TTP dashboard or the CBP OneTM Mobile Application, available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Interviews will take approximately 15 minutes. Applicants should be prepared to show the following documents during their remote interview:
- A valid passport. Applicants should bring all of their current passports to the interview so the information can be added to their file.
- Documents providing proof of residency. Such proof may include a driver's license, mortgage statement, rental payment statement, or utility bill that features the applicant’s current home address.
- A permanent residence card (if applicable).

l do not think there will be any remote appointments for Nexus until the Canadian side gets up and running and they’re shut down. I had an appointment on the Canadian side for mid June and just got a cancellation yesterday for my actual appointment that I had set up.
“All appointments scheduled between May 3, 2021 and June 7, 2021 have been cancelled. Those affected may reschedule their appointments once the Enrollment Center re-opens. “

Just had my Zoom interview. It was scheduled for 5:15pm, and I was on a couple minutes early. The agent only showed up at 5:40pm, so don't give up hope if they don't join right away. The agent was super friendly and the interview took about 2 minutes. The website already shows that I'm re-approved, as soon as I signed back in.

just completed 2 interviews (myself and wife) via zoom. both took less than 5 min. We both joined 15 min early...my agent joined 5 min later. My wife's joined after the start time so she was waiting about 17 minutes. With that said, very easy and smooth process!

not necessarily correct, NEXUS involves Canadian and US government, GE US Government only. So those with GE Have been getting virtual interviews , not NEXUS. So chances are good but if say you live in UK not sure others hopefully will come forward.

I highly doubt remote is an option for a first time applicant especially for a foreign national. My understanding fingerprint capture would be required because of being both a foreign national and first time GE.

Where are people seeing the remote interview option? My wife renewed GE without need of an interview. Of course, our 18 yr old daughter was not so lucky on her GE renewal. I am on the appointment page but don't see any remote option.
EDIT: read back through the entire thread and it seems to be a crap shoot as to whether or not one is offered the remote option.

Has anyone been able to successfully schedule a remote Nexus appointment? Every time I check, from current month through to Dec, 2022 all dates are always crossed out. It says it's time zone dependent, so I've tried every US time zone, went through the next 20 months for each time zone, never anything available. Is there some trick to force appointments to show up and be able to schedule one?
Not sure what's the point of the "Remote" option, as it never seems to have any appointments available. Same as all the physical locations in the US (only three now left, it looks like!) and likewise all in Canada, that all always also still show "No appointments available for this location." (Just I am confused about posts earlier with some claiming to have been able to renew Nexus over the last year. How can anyone do it, when there are never any remote appointments available, and all the physical locations likewise, every single one, have no appointments available. Seems to be still all totally shut down hard, for 14+ months running now..)
Has anyone been able to get their Nexus renewal done upon arrival at Global Entry into the US? (At all the US airport locations that do GE but not Nexus.) Or is that not possible?

I think that all Nexus interviews are suspended indefinitely, until the Canadian side gets their act together.
Wish that they'd implement a waitlist or notification when remote slots are loaded at last, saving having to frequently keep logging in and checking, especially for those of us where it's well over a year since the "conditional approval" of a renewal and it's likely just 1-2 minutes of token "interview" to get it greenlit.

Looks like a LOT (hundreds of appointments) of availability has opened up for remote interviews from middle of June until the end of July. Snag yours while you can!
