Remote Interview Pilot for Trusted Traveler Programs
Eligible Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) members can now complete enrollment interviews with a CBP officer through video teleconferencing, while ensuring that the remote interview process maintains high security and privacy standards.
Eligibility
Some renewing Global Entry members who are conditionally approved are eligible to participate in the pilot. Renewing NEXUS, FAST and SENTRI members will be integrated into the pilot through a phased approach. First-time TTP applicants are not yet eligible to participate. NEXUS and FAST-North interviews at Canadian enrollment centers remain suspended until further notice.
Criteria
To be eligible for the remote interview pilot, TTP members must:
- Be conditionally approved for a TTP renewal;
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Have a photo on file with CBP that was taken (1) within the past 10 years, and (2) after the applicant was 14 years of age; and
- Have previously submitted fingerprints to CBP.
To schedule a remote interview, eligible applicants may log into their TTP dashboard and select the “Scheduling Your Remote Interview” link. CBP recommends that applicants verify their e-mail address of record by using the “Edit Profile” link prior to scheduling a remote interview. Doing so will ensure that the applicant receives appointment details and reminders.
Technology Requirements
CBP will use Zoom for government videoconferencing software to conduct the remote interviews. Applicants should ensure that their computer, tablet, or smartphone has a working microphone and camera, and that their device is capable of running the Zoom platform prior to scheduling their interview appointment.
Document Requirements
Applicants who schedule remote interviews will be able to access a virtual waiting room up to 15 minutes prior to their scheduled interview time through their TTP dashboard or the CBP OneTM Mobile Application, available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Interviews will take approximately 15 minutes. Applicants should be prepared to show the following documents during their remote interview:
- A valid passport. Applicants should bring all of their current passports to the interview so the information can be added to their file.
- Documents providing proof of residency. Such proof may include a driver's license, mortgage statement, rental payment statement, or utility bill that features the applicant’s current home address.
- A permanent residence card (if applicable).

I saw your post as an email notification in my inbox this morning. Thank you for including it is GE in your post so I knew there was no urgency for me to check as I'm looking for a NEXUS appointment..

What I have noted is, when I sign in right now to check for remote NEXUS interviews, while there are none available and all of the days calendar days are grey with the diagonal line through them, April 23 does have a blue border around it, kind of like when you open a calendar and it highlights the current day. I believe there is some crossover in the code and it is highlighting April 23 as that must be the day with the most recently available GE appointment.

It is possible that CBSA is literally not doing interviews of any kind.
Just received this email today:,
NEXUS and FAST enrollment centres remain temporarily closed and enrollment interviews are not being conducted at this time. The enrollment centres will remain closed until the travel restrictions at the Canada-United States border are lifted. As a result, all NEXUS and FAST interviews that were previously scheduled will be cancelled, and applicants and existing members will need to reschedule interviews after the CBSA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) resume enrollment operations. Further updates on the re-opening of the enrollment centres will be shared on the CBSA website.
Existing NEXUS and FAST members who renew their membership before the expiry date on their card will be granted an extension of their membership benefits. Therefore, please renew your membership before it expires to avoid losing your privileges while your renewal is pending.
Visit Current border measures and requirements for information about how COVID-19 is affecting travellers, border services, programs and business.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience through this process.
Sincerely,
Travellers Policy and Programs Directorate

Response I received today when inquiring about the process of the new Remote interview + NEXUS:
From: CBP Information Center <[email protected]>
Date: Wed., Apr. 14, 2021, 5:10 a.m.
Thank you for contacting the CBP Traveler Communications Center.
We apologize for the difficulty you have experienced finding an interview appointment at your preferred location and time.
Remote interviews are in the trial phase and are not yet widely available. If you see the option to schedule a remote interview on your dashboard, please note that there may not be any availability for several months. Please continue to monitor your dashboard for remote interview availability or schedule an in-person interview at an Enrollment Center.
Due to the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel at U.S. land borders, NEXUS and U.S.-Canada FAST interviews at U.S. and Canadian enrollment centers will remain suspended until further notice. SENTRI and FAST-South enrollments on the southern border may also be limited. CBP reminds all travelers that crossing a U.S. land border for the purpose of visiting a Trusted Traveler Programs enrollment center is non-essential travel.
In order to minimize the impact of the enrollment centers closure on Trusted Traveler Programs applicants, CBP has extended the period of time that applicants have to complete the enrollment process. Every applicant now has 730 days (24 months) from the date that CBP conditionally approves his or her application to schedule an interview. If you have an interview scheduled on your TTP account when you reach the 730 day mark – even if this interview has not yet occurred – your application will remain valid. In addition, CBP will extend for up to 24 months the program benefits of members who apply for renewal before their current membership expires.
If you need further assistance, please reply to this email and we will investigate how we may further assist you.
Thank you again for contacting the CBP Traveler Communications Center.

Expired NEXUS card, Conditionally approved & now in ZOOM limbo???
*US Citizen
*Feb 2021 expired
*Apr 14, 2021 renewal app submitted
*Apr 21, 2021 conditionally approved, interview required
Zero Remote Zoom interviews available (looked all the way into 2025! Zoom is preferred versus in-person. Interview centres still closed.)
Based on the CBP response above - if I can't get an interview before the 730 days is up, am I basically SOL and lose my application & fee?!?!? Kicking myself for not applying before it expired 🤦♀️😫
Any one have any luck booking a Zoom NEXUS interview? Did you have to play around with various time zones? Should I log in at a certain time of day (I'm in PST) and check?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Currently remote Zoom interview is only available to Global Entry applicants. NEXUS requires both U.S. and Canadian officers.

I've been conditionally approved for my renewal since last August but haven't scheduled anything. Just happened to log in yesterday and noticed the remote option available. Found one time slot for this morning and booked it. Very quick and friendly agent. I spent more time in the waiting room (15mins) than the actual interview. It was great.
Edit: Sorry this was for Global Entry

For those who don't want to search this post, ryandc99's was for Global Entry.
