Looks like CBP is not giving me accurate information,
I won't be completing my NEXUS interview as I won't get GE & Precheck as per their latest email, even though their website says otherwise. I will keep my approved GE as is. Email from CBP: " CBP Information Center to me Thank you for contacting the CBP Traveler Communications Center. Unfortunately, Permanent Residents of Canada do not receive the Global Entry benefit as NEXUS members. Therefore, as a NEXUS permanent resident of Canada member you will not receive Global Entry and TSA PreCheck. " The eligibility and benefits really need to be cleared up by CBP and CBSA so that all members can be sure they all get the same benefits. They’ve all been through the same screening that a standard GE applicant would have gone through, so even if they need a visa that’s already been submitted at the time of application, just like GE. Canada needs to make sure that eligibility is clearer during their ongoing Nexus negotiations. |

If that is actually the case, which I have half/half doubts on actual real life applicability versus what is said online even by CBP—their recommendation guide suggests GE to people who say they travel more times to Canada than internationally, instead of suggesting Nexus for instance)—either could possibly be the case in your situation. You already have a KTN, so maybe you’ll slip through the Precheck system even if somehow you wouldn’t otherwise. The way that email is worded implies that Canadian permanent residents can’t access GE kiosks or lanes when entering the U.S., which would be asinine and defeat half the purpose of the program for those people. For you, without Nexus you’ll be stuck in the slow lane when entering Canada and won’t be able to use the expedited security lane in Canada as that is only open to people who have trusted traveler cards.

In the previous email, the one Agent said that only Precheck is not eligible for Canadian PR holders, but GE can, see below; "Thank you for contacting the CBP Traveler Communications Center. Unfortunately, Permanent Residents of Canada do not receive the Global Entry benefit of TSA PreCheck as NEXUS members. Additionally, according to your screenshot, you are not "Approved", your are "Conditionally Approved". "Conditionally Approved" means an interview is required within 5 years from your conditional approval date for an officer to determine whether you are approved or denied for the program. You will not be able to use the membership until you have been "Approved"." It's so frustrating that even their agent can't tell you anything. As you said, I can be lucky, and I might still get lucky TSA Precheck, but I do not want to risk losing GE & TSA PreCheck as I will be traveling Domestically more than to Toronto. My renewal; is in 2027 so I might wait until I get my Canadian Citizenship and try again. My logic to apply was potentially moved to Champlain, NY, so I could use it at the land border, but that can wait till mid-2024. Thanks |

Anyone know the process to get a nexus interview at Pearson ? Don't see it available on the website but I believe you can do walk-in interviews. Is that correct ?

Canada seemed to announce the new two-step process involving an interview at one of the Canadian offices for the CBSA side, and then with CBP in the US. Hadn’t seen any additional info. that any offices in Canada had actually opened - seems like this page noting that Lansdowne and Fort Erie offices are now open (though didn’t even realize that), but seems like none of the other offices are open yet. Pearson will absolutely be difficult, if not impossible to get an interview at initially, since it was always high-demand, but even more so given the length of the closure and the backlog of applications they are going to need to clear. |

first step would be for the office at Pearson to actually re-open, would my guess.

Pearson Nexus office is open, I saw signs pointing to where it was. I thought I saw something along the lines of if you have imminent travel, you could just go there for an interview before or after your flight

I think you have five years to interview after your NEXUS conditional approval, so you should be good to go in 2024. Just curious, how does the Canadian PR and a US H1B visa work? As to keep your PR--I believe--you need to stay in Canada for at least six months out of the year.

Traveling to Canada (entry at YYZ) this week for business travel. I do have a letter from the applicable company "inviting" me. I'm not bringing any business goods with me.
Is it ok to use Nexus for business travel? |

Yes. That's what many use NEXUS for.

Does it matter what you told them you would be using it for? At our interview, we were asked whether we would be traveling for business, and I said no, just touring. If it turns out someday that I have a business reason to be in Canada (very unlikely in my case), do I need to tell them in advance or can I just cross in the NEXUS lane as usual?
What is material is you meet the conditions for entry associated to a particular entry (leisure, business, work, study etc). |
Anyone here apply for Nexus as a U.S. citizen/Canadian citizen living abroad? Will they mail the card overseas with proof of foreign address, or do you need a domestic address and proof of address, such a a state or provincial license? As I’m sure there are many in the latter situation.

I lost my Nexus card this weekend, plus other cards in my wallet (that was not a fun realization, especially when I noticed the credit cards had been used). Aside from cancelling all cards, and applying for a replacement card, is there anything else I need to do to notify Nexus? When coming home I asked the CBSA agent, but all he came up with was "check the website". I assume that applying for a lost card implies "telling Nexus"?
Also, any datapoints on turn around time for replacement cards? It was pretty much approved right away. |

Lost, Stolen or Damaged NEXUS, SENTRI, or Global Entry card You may login to your Trusted Travelers Programs (TTP account) to request a new card by clicking "Replace Card" from your dashboard under the Program Membership section. You can select any reason, even if not accurate. |
