for the most part I would agree and that sounds good but I do want to give a word of caution. not related to the situation but for related to calling Canada border services agency versus the border guard you meet at the border. A few years ago I called in for a question I called a local BC number as well as a federal number. and got the same answer. Got to the border and was turned around because of somebody in my car and the border guard was just like the buck stops with me and no. i hope you have a better experience than I did but sadly we really need to be calling in the exact border guard that will be dealing with at the border to see if they know the rule or the interpretation of the rule that they’re dealing with good luck |

If getting into Canada, then a US birth certificate and a picture ID would suffice at the land border. Refer to 13.19 on page 74 https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ir.../enf04-eng.pdf You also have to consider CBP treatment of travelling with NEXUS with an expired passport. No idea about NEXUS rules other than technically you can apply for NEXUS without a passport to begin with. |

Got an email update from NEXUS where, among the enrollment center reopenings, they mentioned new "e-Gates" at Toronto airport. Anyone know how these e-gates are different than the existing NEXUS kiosks at Canadian airports currently?
It's same as the new photo nexus kiosk that replaced the iris scan so just pick one, most people don't know it yet so there's often a queue for kiosk and if so just squeeze thru to the gate where it's empty. |

You go to the gate one traveler at a time, tap card and take a photo, then confirm the info (name/DOB) on screen and answer a question (covid related) and the gate opens after printing the receipt with your photo.

What about the various questions they ask — been on a farm, food, etc? Do you still talk to someone? |

At least for the foreseeable future, Nexus will still have a human officer stop (given the covid requirements) so one just answers when he/she asks about anything to declare. |
So the e-gates functionally do the same thing as the kiosks? They both print a receipt and you have to show the receipt to the officer. So what’s the point of the e-gates?
Maybe they’re trying to prepare for the future where you won’t need to verify the e-gate receipt with an officer like at LHR? |

The e-gates are MUCH faster than the new kiosks they installed that have to move up to take your picture. A few seconds and you are through the gate to the agent.

Would you say they’re akin to the new US global entry kiosks that just take your picture and give you a receipt? Of which i used for the first time today at YYZ when transferring from Domestic to US flight (and was the highlight of that connection experience)

I renewed my membership and was approved (with no interview) a few weeks ago, but have yet to receive my new card in the mail. On the TTP website, the status shows as Approved with the new expiry date and a "Activate Membership Card" button.
I have a trip to the USA this weekend, can I use NEXUS/Global Entry lines with my old NEXUS card (still before the original expiry date) or best to avoid them for this trip? Assuming the new card doesn't arrive in the next few days, of course. |
Does anyone know if you can do enrollment on arrival for nexus? I was at the airport last night and asked an agent and they said it was just for global entry

I believe the agent was correct and the only way you can do is online because nexus involves the Canadian and US governments.
|
Just double checking to see if other people are having issues signing on to the nexus government site. I am just getting errors and loading and never loads
