I applied 17 months ago and still waiting for conditional approval. Meanwhile my kids and husband have been approved.

Question on interviews: My niece was conditionally approved. She already has GE. Is the interview to be scheduled at the NY Champlain center for the Canadian side of the process or the US side, or is there just one interview for both? If the US side, as there are no Canadian locations available, is she unable to get NEXUS fully approved and active until the Canadian stations open?

Thanks!

It's one interview for both. There will be a CBSA officer at Champlain who does the Canadian portion.

Same thing here. Canadian PR, 1st time Nexus applicant.
I've just called CBSA and they told me the US side is holding a lot of applications and said if I don't get any answer by SEPTEMBER/23 I should call them again.

Any GE to Nexus first time applicants who were not approved in first couple days. How much time it took?

Same category here. My wife and I applied at about a year before you. I was conditionally approved fairly fast. She is still waiting. It's not just yu. If it gets close to August with no change, you may want to call CBP and ask about whether your GE will expire if you don't renew it and stick with the NEXUS application. As they are separate programs I'd expect it will expire.

I applied NEXUS on Dec 21 2021 and still not conditional approved (441 days and counting), in the meantime, I applied for Nexus for my newborn in Oct 2022. It feels like at least another 1 year of waiting to travel as a family (until my newborn gets the NEXUS card too), even if my case can be conditionally approved this year. Does anyone try to bring the young family member with you for the interview, even if they are not conditionally approved? And what is the likelihood that the young child can also be interviewed prior to their conditional approval?

Theres no need to call CBP about that, if you dont renew before your expiration date your GE will expire. You can have simultaneous apps so at that point you just hope that your nexus gets approved before your GE does. I would wait until the last possible date to renew GE as a result.

Cant be quantified because it is YMMV down to agent. Officially you need an appointment but some agents may take on a walk-in if time allows (eg someone cancelled last minute) or you could have an agent that works as per policy of no walk-ins allowed even if everyone canceled rest of the day.

Yes, that's my plan. Wait till last week and then cancel Nexus and renew GE or just apply for TSA Pre. But I have a feeling that if I apply for TSA Pre it will also go through same long approval cycle.

Precheck almost always only takes a few days going by both online reports and the TTP website
