this was probably right about the time OZ entered the jet age with their DC-9s, so it's (to me, at least) a logical guess that the flight served their St Louis (STL) hub ... perhaps Des Moines (DSM) thereafter
24. You are right on track here as it was indeed Ozark with a DC9. However, although the flight in question did stop in St. Louis, STL was actually the second stop. So we are still looking for the first stop here.

24- well that's a surprise, as there's sure not much between BNA and STL ... Paducah (PAH) looks to be about the only city that could support jet service

Over the years, car and plane manufacturers have used common names for their respective models.
e.g. Chevrolet Greyhound and Cessna Greyhound.

I got to about 50 using U.K., European and U.S. car manufacturers.
General aviation aircraft and airliners are included in the aviation section.

How many can you find?
"Coronado" was a mid-1950s DeSoto model, as well as the nickname of the Convair 990

In the late 1960s, while Vickers Viscounts rolled overhead, our next-door neighbours drove a Viscount

I found three (one large British military type, one that was used for both British and American fighters, and one modem general aviation)

24. Yep, it was little ol' Paducah with the majority of Ozark service into the local airport (Barkley Field) being flown with Fairchild Hiller FH-227B turboprops as OZ was only operating two DC9 flights a day into PAH at this time. Here's the sched for one of them.....

OZ 914: Nashville (BNA) 10:34a - 11:04a Paducah (PAH) 11:14a - 11:50a St. Louis (STL) 12:15p - 1:31p Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP)
Freq: Daily except Sundays
Service class: S
Meal service: Lunch STL-MSP
Equip: DC9

“Fury” was also the North American Aviation FJ-1/2/3/4 series of Navy fighters

YVR Cockroach picked up on "Fury" ... here are the other two Plymouth model names that also graced aircraft:
Valiant (Vickers, strategic bomber of the 1950s/60s)
Sportsman (Glasair -- it's actually a kit-build 4-seater)

Add another Fairey and Plymouth combo

Barracuda

A lot of familiarity with these names are jogging synapses unused for well over 40-50 years (from Airfix, Revell, Hot Wheels etc.)

indeed! and of course your recent mentions of Fairey led me to recall building the Revell model of the Rotodyne

and back to cars -- how have we not mentioned the 1960s-70s Mercury "Comet" to this point?!

Just as an update on one of our longstanding regular subjects, London City closed today for the foreseeable future, and has been taken over by the RAF for use in potential medical flights. The big exhibition centre across the dock, largest in the UK, is being converted into a hospital. The last of the BA Embraer 190s flew out late afternoon, they mostly seem stored at Norwich.

Here's an RAF Hercules coming in yesterday to some surroundings familiar to several of the regulars here :

I wonder if RAF will also operate the C-17 into London City. The aircraft does have STOL performance and can also use narrow runways.
