27. Yes! And we await that fifth jet type....

28. Nope....on both types!

28. Dan Air was certainly still operating BAC 1-11s in the early '90s so let's try that.

11. Your dinner meeting in Boston was quite successful. However, you must now fly to Miami in the morning to execute the contract. You've found a one stop flight from BOS to MIA which will enable you to take care of business that same afternoon. Identify the airline, the stop and the aircraft type. It wasn't Eastern or National, the equipment wasn't an L-1011 or Super DC-8-61 and the stop was not made at Hartford or New York JFK

I was about to go with Northeast, but by '73 they'd've merged with Delta, so let's go with a rare Delta 727-100 routing BOS-FLL-MIA. (Routing through ATL just seems too obvious)

20. You've had a great getaway in Cancun but now it's time to get back to work. Your lady friend is now safely heading back to New York City but you are off to Los Angeles. You'll be on board a daily flight which makes two stops en route from CUN to LAX although the aircraft is in an all coach configuration. Name the airline, both stops and the equipment.

Both of the primary Mexican domestic carriers operated in all-economy configurations, so let's start with a Mexicana 727-200 routing CUN - MEX - MZT - LAX

18- UA ran a couple of flights from the Deep South to Los Angeles (LAX), and it’s not at all inconceivable that one of these continued up the Pacific coast to SFO, SEA, and thence Vancouver (YVR) ... I’ll offer Atlanta (ATL) and Birmingham (BHM) as the first two stops

24- there were a lot of 72S operators that served both MSP and PDX, but in terms of a route that didn’t involve a lot of geographic backtracking, the only remaining option would seem to be Republic ... let’s try Boise (BOI) and Seattle (SEA) as the other stops

26. Now it's 1982 and you are in Burbank. No, not the one in Illinois, the one in southern California. You're off to Green Bay for a Packers game with your "cheesehead" friends who live in Wisconsin. And what a surprise! There's a direct flight from BUR to GRB which makes two stops en route. Name the air carrier, both stops and the equipment.

Continental, BUR - DEN - MKE - GRB, Boeing 727-100

11. Yep, it was Delta....but not with a B727-100 and the flight in question did not stop at Fort Lauderdale or Atlanta.

20. Nope, it wasn't Mexicana, the equipment wasn't a B727-200 and the flight in question did not stop in Mexico City or Mazatlan....or anywhere else in Mexico.

Please guess again, sir!

18. Nope, the flight in question operated by United did not stop in Atlanta or Birmingham....but you're on the right track here as Los Angeles was the third stop and San Francisco was the fourth stop with this flight terminating in Vancouver, B.C.

24. Nope, It wasn't Republic and the flight in question did not stop in Boise or Seattle.

26. Well, close enough as Continental actually operated this flight with a B727-200. Here's the sched....

CO 218: Burbank (BUR) 7:25a - 10:25a Denver (DEN) 11:00a - 2:05p Milwaukee (MKE) 2:30p - 3:01p Green Bay (GRB)
Freq: Daily
Service classes: F/Y
Meal services: Breakfast BUR-DEN, lunch DEN-MKE
Equip: 72S

Which is exactly what we did … Hello from up in the hills behind Cannes, where a dreary low cloud morning at Gatwick, to the extent that it was Cat 3 landings and we were into the cloud 10 seconds after lift-off, turned into such a blue sky arrival that in the rental car leaving the airport I am wishing that my sunglasses were not left in the car back at Gatwick car park. On final approach there were yachts out in the sea - on December 31 !

Happy New Year all - there will be fireworks here well before most of you.

Always good to arrive at your destination safe and sound with the sun shining!

And we will enjoy a very comprehensive fireworks show here tonight accompanied by excellent Cajun gumbo!

Happy New Year to One and All!

18- how about Huntsville (HSV) and Memphis (MEM) for that UA 727 between RDU and LAX

24- MSP-PDX, two stops after DEN, a 72S; not NW, UA, or RC ... Western; Las Vegas (LAS) and San Francisco (SFO)

You're getting closer on both of these.....

18. The UA flight in question did stop at HSV but did not stop at MEM.

24. Western is correct.....however, although this flight stopped at SFO, it did not stop at LAS.

Ah, I see I neglected to include the scheds for the above....and Dan-Air was only operating two flights a week on this route with BAC One-Eleven equipment at the time...

DA 963: London Gatwick (LGW) 11:45a - 2:35p Nice (NCE)
Freq: Fridays only

DA 967: London Gatwick (LGW) 4:45p - 7:35p Nice (NCE)
Freq: Sundays only

At this same time, BA was operating two daily nonstops from Heathrow to Nice with the A320 while AF was operating one daily flight with a B727-200 on the service everyday except on Fridays when it flew the same LHR-NCE schedule with an A310.

As Old Year's Day draws to a close, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all a healthy, safe and prosperous new year.

Thanks for all the effort that goes into compiling the questions.

All the best,

KT
