The new ad window that opens in your browser when loading MileTracker is extremely annoying.

MileTracker folks: you've never gotten one dime from me from clicking through your ads. But I have said many, many times I'd be pleased to pay a yearly subscription for this service.

Please re-consider.

Have you ever considered Mileport? It's the same program, a bit less annoying. Only negative: there are no links to the FT-forums...

Can we transfer the accounts from MileTracker to Mileport?

Thanks

So...I fire up MileTracker and there's one update. Oh boy, maybe Marriott is fixed! The updae loads and I get the "error ding". And nothing else. I click on the MT icon. "Error ding". I restart my PC. "Error ding".

MT is dead.

Same for me, except I blamed my kids for downloading something they shouldn't have. I saw the update, clicked and bang. Nothing! I thought something was wrong. First of all the update was on a late Saturday afternoon, and second my security software usually asks if I would allow this program access which never happened. Hopefully a solution is around the corner.

I just downloaded mileport (from the link above) and then during installation selected the USAToday MileTracker folder when it asked about previous DeskPort installations. That way it loaded the account settings and I was able to access everything.

Sheesh.

Again: take the ads out; they're the cause of most of the instability. Charge me $20 or $30 a year to use it.

It's almost the same program, it's made by the same people and uses the same configfiles. Even when you installed MilePort in another directory as MileTracker, you are able to import settings. It's mentioned in their FAQ.

MilePort is -in my opinion- much more reliable (stable) then MileTracker, so I mainly use MilePort now. As I already mentioned, MilePort only misses the FT-links, but that's all.

They are identical below the surface and they're always upgraded at the same time. Because USA Today controls the ads for MileTracker, there are some extra problems it has (such as the recent and obviously unintentional popup) that MilePort has never had. That popup is gone in the upgrade.

Marriott is working again but just for the balance. Status, recent activity, etc. are disabled. Make sure to switch your login to an email address or account number since Marriott has phased out usernames and MT/MP will report an invalid login if you leave your username in.

I'll bet (or rather, hope) that everyone reporting upgrade troubles is running Windows Vista. There are known problems with that OS that have not yet been addressed. For now, if you are prompted for an upgrade, just click no, close the app, download the latest full install from http://download.deskport.biz/MilePort.exe, and install it over your existing install. There's need to uninstall and you won't have to reenter your settings, though you should back them up occasionally anyway either under the File menu or by copying MileTracker.settings. It's a hassle but it works. The upgrade is nearly the size of the full install (5.7 MB vs. 8.5 MB) anyway.
