The latest version now correctly handles Hilton and Marriott.

I couldn't get the "upgrade" to work, so I uninstalled and redownloaded from deskport.biz, and all's well now.

For the first time in a long time, everything in my MileTracker works normaly (and there isn't that "Cannot Retrieve" on Hilton & Marriott).

I wonder if they got the Vista update bug fixed?

Same here!

However, at least two are still not working:

JetBlue trueBlue and LAN Chile LANPASS

Well, for a least the third time, when opening Mile Tracker this morning all my accounts were gone.

This happens with no rhyme or reason.

Moral: back up your accounts so you can restore when it hoses on you.

This has happened to me from time to time. I suspected some problems with my anti-virus software but I do not have prove yet. Regular backup is what I do for now.

Someone may have compromised their web site.
That's a pretty big deal, a first I think for MileTracker.

I run McAfee. I updated it and ran MileTracker but got no warning.

markolenski when exactly did NOD32 ring the alarm? Startup of MT? Checking balances? Some other situation?

I guess we shouldn't use miletracker for some time....start Windows Task Manager and you can see that miletracker has almost 100% CPU Usage!

USAFAN, I originally wrote MileTracker and still provide partial support for it. I just did some research on the CPU usage and I'm confident that the problem is due to the 300x250 Blackberry Curve Flash ad. When that ad is visible, USATMT.exe takes up almost 50% of my CPU (which is equivalent to 100% because I have a dual core). If I put MileTracker in the background so that the ad is hidden behind another window or I minimize it, the CPU usage drops down to 0% or 1%. I then tried opening up this ad directly in Internet Explorer and was not surprised that Internet Explorer's CPU usage now reached almost 100%. So it's clearly the ad that's written in Flash and not the app. We'll try to get that ad pulled from the rotation immediately.

This appears to have been due to a bug in NOD32 where it was detecting that some ads falsely included trojans.

Please update your virus definitions (however that's done in NOD32) and let us know if you're still experiencing this problem.

jimbob:
Thanks! I believe, you are correct. I minimized the webpage and the CPU usage drops down to 2% or so. And "Retrieve Account Balances" is still working in the background.

BTW, are you Mike?

Note from Mike Hoeffner, Developer of MileTracker - October 13, 2004
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MileTracker is no longer available in its previous form, but it is still available through two other applications. Please visit www.deskport.biz for a version embedded within DeskPort, an even more useful free application full of time-saving tools. Another option is to visit www.usatoday.deskport.biz or www.miletracker.com for a standalone version of MileTracker that has been released in partnership with USA TODAY.
... and a dumb question. I can backup users & accounts ... but how can I recover them? I cant find anything on the website.

Yep, I'm Mike. You mean that's not obvious from my username? ;-)

That backup question isn't dumb at all. There's unfortunately currently no way to do it through the app. You have to manually copy the backed up file into MileTracker's directory (while the app is *not* running). Here's a more detailed description:

Hi Mike. While we've got your attention, I have an odd problem on my PC.

I have AvantBrowser installed, which is an overlay to IE, and I switched the default browser back and forth between the 2 a few times. Sometime during my switching the navigation links stopped working. They now don't do a thing. No errors, nothing. And IE now is the default browser. Uninstalling AB doesn't fix the problem.

Can you suggest a fix to this? Some sneaky registry entry I can tweak perhaps?

Thanks for your time.

[EDIT: To clarify, all other links work fine: View, Retrieve, FT.

And the BlackBerry ad is CPU crazy on my machine, too. ]
