No -- each airline has its own class structure for rewards.

Air Canada Aeroplan uses D and W class for business and econo rewards respectively.

Great! Thanks, BlondeBomber. A point of clarification: The items listed in blue (FFP Redemption Codes) on the thread you reference... does that mean a partner award only. For example: when I see that LH economy reward code is 'X' does that mean that if I have 50K UA miles I can get that X seat of LH. But what about if I have 50K LH miles, am I sill limited to only X for a coach reward on LH itself???

Yes, the booking class code remains the same.

However, the # of seats available for sale may vary depending on who is makinbg the request: For example, when LH makes a request for X class availability on flight LH101 on 01JAN, the system may respond with X5. However, when UA makes a request for the same flight and class, the system may respond with X4...

BlondeBomber Feb 15, 2005 12:56 pm

"if I have 50K UA miles I can get that X seat of LH. But what about if I have 50K LH miles, am I still limited to only X for a coach reward on LH itself"

Yes that is generally the way it works although it seems sometimes there is more availability than the tool(s) will show, especially if you are a status member. I know with LH Miles and More, I could book a trip online but not over the phone, ie they couldn't see the available inventory at LH Miles and More while their website allowed me to book. This was important as I needed to work with the file so I booked on the internet then had Miles and More take over the file and work with me on it to get exactly what I wanted.

With UA, my experience has been that if the award class (blue letters in chart referred to) doesn't show as available in the tool, I can't get the reward seat.

What does the number after the class letter mean (for example, what is the difference between X5 and X4, etc.) .

Thanks for use of the program ^

It means the # of seats that the airline is willing to sell in that class at that moment.

I'm sorry for another question (please bear with me :o )

So, if your tool returns "F9 A9 O1 C9 D9 Z9 I0 R0 Y9 B9 M9 H9 X0 Q9 N9 V9 W0 S0" does it mean that X class is all sold out or does it mean that I just can't book X right now (maybe later it would work?)?

It can mean any of those things...

THANKS KVS and BlondeBomber. I'm slowing getting up to speed (with the generous help of people like you)!

MapleLeaf Feb 16, 2005 7:53 am

I need to use the AUA/*A option to view LH inventory and it never loads. My install is clean, only 4 or 5 days old. The other options work just fine but don't give LH award codes :( Any ideas? It is version 1.3.5

Try clicking on http://book3.aua.com and see if that page loads OK, then try using the Tool again...

MapleLeaf Feb 16, 2005 10:20 am

The http://book3.aua.com works fine but the KVS tool still won't display any availability when I use the AUA/*A option. FYI whenever I submit something using the AUA/*A option my CPU usage rate shoots up to 100% although the program itself is not freezing up.

Take a browse through this thread -- I beleive someone had a similar issue before and it was caused by a conflict with Norton AV/Internet Security or some other similar software...

I just did a random search with AUA/*A and yes CPU did spike for about 5-10 sec while it was working ... but then it came back ...how long do you wait for it to return? I can try your search if you provide details to see if it happens here too.

On a broadband connection, you should see complete results in about 10 seconds. Did you try disabling any Anti-Virus/Pop-Up Blockers/"Privacy"/Personal Firewall and similar software? What exactly does it say on the big Go button after "Stop"?

MapleLeaf Feb 16, 2005 11:34 am

With my anti-virus disabled, pop-up blocker off still no response. I have waited as long as 2 minutes and nothing - just shoots up to 100% of my processing time being used, 99% by KVS and sits there. As a test I have just put in YYZ-YUL for a random date in August.

What I actually want to find is a couple of seats on LH from YYZ to IST, returning via MUC (flexible on dates in late July through to end of August).

FYI I just passed 4 minutes of waiting with no response. On the Go Button it says Stop [.]

Oh yeah, I am on broadband (rogers extreme).

"Stop [.]" means that it is trying to connect to the server, but is unable to... Are you using the latest version (1.3.5)? Did you try re-installing it? Is this only happening with the AUA/*A method or all 3 of the methods? Can you open http://book3.aua.com/ in Internet Explorer?

MapleLeaf Feb 16, 2005 2:15 pm

I am using 1.3.5 and just re-installed it, no difference. Yes I can open the page in IE without difficulty. All the other methods work fine, except for Gallileo which asks for a password

Any other ideas?

FYI I am running a Laptop with an AMD 3000+ processor, 512 MB of Ram, Windows XP Pro, SP1

You may have something else installed on your system (that you may not even be aware of) that is preventing the tool from accessing the AUA servers...

Any ideas of what that could be?

I do run behind a router, connecting all the computers in the house. Do I need to engage port forwarding here? If so, what port needs to be opened?

IncyWincy Feb 17, 2005 5:39 pm

Differences between the options

Could I ask a stupid question - what are the differences between the 4 options, , ITN/CWT, ITN/UA, AUA/*A and Galileo?

Also, which tool allows me to see award/upgrade availability?

No, the tool only uses the standard ports and you don't need to do anything special in that regard.

Check your Proxy Settings in Internet Explorer settings though -- that's the only thing I can think of at the moment...

Each method has its advantages and disadvantages -- take a browse through this thread for more details. In general, see this [FAQ]

Thanks a million, KVS!

Many thanks again!

Hi,
1.3.6 still gives the "Error requesting data" error with the ITN/AUA option.

I haven't received any other problem reports since the latest version was released...

Is there anybody else who is having similar problems with version 1.3.6 & the AUA/*A function?

MapleLeaf Feb 22, 2005 6:53 am

The AUA/*A still does not work for me either.

So far, there is no problem with AUA/*A in my computer. Hope stay this way for me though. :) I can still check for example for 18MAR SQ LHR-SIN flights are very full, as well as other LH and TG.

mars1982 Feb 22, 2005 6:54 pm

Anyone know the code for Aeroplan Avenue rewards---bus/econ????
- I think I got all the others down pat.

Great Program KVS

Thanks,

Today, I used the AUA/A*, and sometimes worked, sometimes not. Is says "Reservation system is currently unavailable. Please try later... (or something like that)"

1.3.6 consistently gives the message: "Reservation system is currently unavailable. Please try later... " when using AUA/*A, no matter how often I try.

ozstamps Feb 24, 2005 10:34 pm

KVS - can you take off a few weeks and work on the UA website please? ;)

Is there a specific city pair/date combination that you're requesting availability for?

Such an error message would only be coming directly from AUA's servers so I can only speculate as to what is causing it... Also, try clearing the cookies in Internet Explorer.
