Thanks.

it's also quite a bother to re-try this over and over as each time I need to re-enter registry key and all my FF numbers/passwords.

There is no need to uninstall an existing version when upgrading. Your saved Registration and FFP Credentials will be recognized automatically.

Please make sure that the Setup screen shows the correct version -- otherwise, you are running the wrong Setup file.

OK - I guess I am a bit confused on how to get to the Setup screen and/or Setup app under Crossover - can you provide more details instructions on how to do this. thanks.

Please download the Setup file from http://www.KVSTool.com/ and then launch it using the CrossOver.

Alternatively, try using the CrossOver CrossTie installer, as shown at http://www.CodeWeavers.com/compatibi...e/?app_id=8440

Not only does KVS not offer alerts, but it also does not offer a free trial period. AwardNexus.com on the other hand offers automated searching (sent to your email) along with a free version for FT members. ExpertFlyer.com also offers a 5-day free trial. You may also want to look at http://www.wandr.me/

Error on Award Search for DL/Skyteam

There is an error in the award search method DL/Skyteam. Whenever searching with the airline option *S Skyteam (DL/KL/AF/AZ/AM) instead of displaying this, it displays availability for **Skyteam (DL/KE).

Search for Delta award availability with option * Skyteam (DL/KL/AF/AZ/AM), and it works fine. But then do a subsequent search, changing dates, and it displays the availability for ** Skyteam (DL/KE). This seems to be a system glitch.

This error is on both the regular KVS version and the Beta Power Search KVS version.

Why do you believe that the results do not match the selected option?

Installing new version under Crossover

Ok - I finally got to the bottom of this - i.e. installing the new version 7.2.3.R2 for Mac under Crossover - all previous attempts simply re-installed the old version.

I downloaded the KVS setup utility from the main KVS screen into my "download folder" then in Crossover I selected the Install Application option, then selected KVS from the list of "Community Supported Applications" then I manually set the install utility to select the setup .exe from my download folder. Then hit the INSTALL button and it worked.

Now I have no idea if this is what you have been telling me to do but all other combinations simply re-installed the old version.

Also, once installed I did need to re-enter all my FF program details but this may have something to do with my convoluted installation procedure.

I've been trying to use the mobile companion as well as 7.2.3 and I've just realised I'm getting different results for what I think is the same search. This might have been covered already, but with 5779 posts so far, I haven't been able to find it.

I'm searching availability on BA12 from SIN to LHR on 4 July 2013. I get

[KVS Availability Tool 7.2.3/Diamond - Availability/FS/US]

LHR London Heathrow UK [EGLL]

BA 16 SIN 23:05 LHR 05:30 777 F0 A0 J4 C0 W0 Y3 B0 H0 K0 M0 G0

When I search using the Mobile Companion I get:

Sorry, I don't know if I can make that any smaller. It looks huge on preview.

Anyway, my question is: Am I doing anything fundamentally wrong to get different results?

Looks like a slight POS variation, which is normal for BA:

This question would be best directed to DL itself, as they control the connection-building logic of that Engine.

Hello, a bit of a newbie trying to figure out a mini-RTW via Aeroplan.

When I use the MPM feature on KVS, the mileage numbers are different than two online MPM calculators. Keeping in mind the 5% overage Aeroplan allows I can't fit in the stopover I wanted but could if using the other calculators.

Are the KVS numbers the one I should be going by or is there an online industry standard out there. I don't want to get everything together to book and find out that I'm either over my MPM or rather short and could have fit another leg in. Thanks!

What's your proposed routing?

tommy99 Jul 4, 2013 3:18 pm

Thanks, I think I might have read this wrong - pehaps you can confirm. My MPM routing is 12,676. Does Aeroplan work with a straight MPM between the start and finish, in this case 12,676 but then allows milage (5% overage) up to 13,309. So in this case my routing MPMs should be fine?

The Mobile Companion Availability Engine is currently experiencing issues with flights that depart earlier than ~06:00am (such as the EY 211 flight in question). However, you can still access Timetables & Seats Maps for it.

Powersearch Feedback Beta

Thanks for letting me try the Beta and suggest improvements.

Currently the Beta stops when it reaches a "find". What I'd prefer it to do is to carry on searching and populate a list unti it reaches the final date in the set date range. I'd then like to print to a printer or even better a csv file the results so that I can put together a list of outward and return possibilities. At the moment my chosen manual method/way is to work through the BA calender and manually add the availability to a spreadsheet until I come up with an outward and return dates the make a viable trip. KVS would help document that directly to a spreadsheet if a saveable populated list that can be CSV saved. This would present a clear KVS advantage over simply using the BA site.

Even better would be if there was an option to merge lists ie search outward and continually add to a CSV file for say 60 days and then when working on returns use the date in the existing file as the field key and merge the return finds into the already created outward file. To make this clearer, this would mean a date column followed by flight numbers and any other detail for the outward legs followed by the return flights in the following columns. This would then produce automatically what I spend hours working on and would be a real plus for KVS.

The other suggestion is that when the search hits a find it remains on the same date of the find by default. This means that when it stops after finding a flight you have to manually reset the search date for the following day onwards otherwise it just keeps finding the same flight. I'd prefer the default after a hit to be the following day.

I can see substantial advantages if the list making suggestions I made were incorporated but I'm interested to also hear what are the advantages in using KVS in the current Beta form for a power search as against simply using the BA calender?

Comments on Beta Power Search Feature

Hi KVS: Thanks for allowing me to beta test the new 7-day search feature. I focused my review on the Star alliance search since I am primarily a UA flyer. Here are my comments:

I agree with previous posters that having a larger window than +/- 7 days would be desirable. With this new feature, I can search an entire month with 4 clicks. Even if you decide not to go for a larger search window, this is a great improvement.

In the output window, consider adding a column for "date". The reason is that it sometimes get confusing looking at the "arrive" column which shows the time of arrival +X (where X is the day range).

It is somewhat confusing that it is possible to select a specific airline in two different areas of the same search. In the main box under the "Awards/StarAlliance-7D" window it is possible to specify a specific Star alliance carrier, or all of them. But then also under the "Filter" tab this is also possible. Is it really necessary to have this twice? Can cause confusion especially if the filter is not set to the same carrier as on the first page.

Hello,

I am a new user to the KVS tool. I am having problems with Awards/CX searches. It gives me an error of

Data Source Error [RD-5]:

"Error 404--Not Found"

Thanks.

Can I request an enhancement?

When printing availability for a day could there be a field added for the date?

This is so that when you copy subsequent days onto the same page each is dated without having to do it manually.

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback, however, you appear to be confusing the existing [Awards/StarAlliance-7D] Method (which allows 7-Day searches in a single query) with the new Beta Power Search functionality (which further extends the search range to 30 days/6+ months).

You can use the Power Search in conjunction with the [Awards/StarAlliance-7D] Method to scan *A Award Availability for up to 6+ Months.

You can also use Power Search with any other Method to scan across a period of up to 30 days.

This is something that is being potentially considered. In the meantime, you can click a segment to easily see the exact departure date. Both departure and arrival date indicators follow the requested date as a base, so if both departure and arrival date indicators show "+X", then you know that the flight arrives the same day.

The [Filter] allows for more flexible airline criteria -- for example, you can specify "SQ; TG" using the [Filter], instead of having to pick a single airline.

Hello chaps,

I am using the KVS Tool as a Gold member. I usually use the Availability/FS mode to find availability by seat bucket, especially as I usually travel in Coach.

I need to make some changes to my ticketed reservations, which are on 'M' class on British Airways.

I am trying to see the availability by fare class for various future flights on the route I am travelling.

I get results using the Availability/FS mode, however the results in some occasions seem to be different to what the airline says their inventory is. For example, I may see M6 however when I call the airline, they say M0, this is all in parallel.

Is there a more accurate mode that I can use? I am willing to upgrade if needed.

Thanks you lads,
Andrew

Just started a trial of platinum and had a question. Trying to do lax-fco on 5/30 and the tool keeps showing cs+ for flight 6170 on IB for that date with connection in economy for 5/31 (flights 3236 and 3238). But this does not show on BA, Quantas, or when I call AA. Are these just phantoms with the KVS tool?
thanks, tim

Its Qantas (no 'u').

Search for each leg separately on BA or Qantas. I can see the IB flight on Qantas, but ExpertFlyer shows the availability is zero. KVS for Award/Oneworld just pulls data from Qantas.

I see the MAD-FCO flights on BA and Qantas.

IB is known to have occasional connectivity issues with its partners, so a Long-Sell may be required:

You can call BA US to take advantage of the more favourable POS US Availability that you are seeing:

Otherwise, additional POS options are available at the Diamond level.
