You're right. They're not showing up on the KVS tool using the ANA search function. However they are showing up using the AC function.

You're welcome. I'm glad it's working.

Dear KVS,
When will Skyteam partner availability become available again? It's one of main reasons I signed up for a platinum account, and for the past few weeks, I have not been able to search for airlines like CI, MH, CZ, KE etc. This is a critical feature for me and I keep getting an error message. Thanks. EDIT: I think v.6.9.6 works only with CI as any routing other than CI's is not available. |
KVS,
KE Biz award (O) still not showing, only F (A). is this a bug or KE is not releasing it? |

What is the route/date in question?
Using Amadeus: Awards/Skyteam w/ POS: US-AF or FR-AF - ICN-LAX 22 Mar 2012 (and v.v.) - No Award Availability/Route too complex/Date out of Range; KE should have some kind of flight listed LAX-PVG 22 Mar 2012 (and v.v.) - Only CI or AF routing to PVG available. No mention of China Eastern (MU) for their routing. LAX-CAN 22 Mar 2012 (and v.v.) - No Award Availability/Route too complex/Date out of Range; CZ should have some kind of flight listed. No mention of China Southern (CZ) for their routing. These are hub flights, so there shouldn't be any reason nothing is available. Other dates also yielded same results. |

I'm considering renewing my KVS subscription, but I can't figure out if it has a benefit over what is available elsewhere.
Mrs. GaryD is JMB Diamond, so seems to be eligible for additional JL award seats. The BA and JL sites provide access to award seat inventory. Is the BA site data, for using "Avios" on JL flights, the same as JL's data for using JMB miles? In other words, does JL hold back some seats for its own members? The JL site explicitly says that for Diamond members, more inventory is available, for which a phone call is necessary. Can that inventory be accessed with KVS? We are looking for an award NRT-JFK-NRT on JL F in June. Which level subscription would suffice for a complete search? If inventory does open up, what mechanism is there for subscribers to learn of it, other than rechecking regularly? Thanks. |

OneWorld rules strongly discourage such practices. Most likely, JL can manually open-up additional award seats for its own Elite members (as you indicated below).
... If the special Award Inventory needs to be requested manually, then there is no way to avoid the phone call. While the KVS Tool can dial the JL number for you automatically via Skype (when using the main application) or via your Mobile device (when using the KVS Tool Mobile Companion), it is not currently capable of holding actual conversations with human Agents :) ... If they do that (or just upgrade without deducting points or miles), apparently they don't admit it publicly. :( Sorry for the confusion, thanks for the quick and detailed response. |
Q/B UP fares - and Aeroplan COS Bonus?
Thanks, for the above response.
As per my thread, the question is whether these ...UP fares will give the 50% COS bonus with Aeroplan. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-c...ue-ticket.html Do the fares rules (in the KVS tool) state anywhere that the fares will book into an "A" booking class, thereby eligible for 50% COS bonus? Update reminder not working
Since the UA/CO merger, the ITA: Upgrades-Awards/UA method was not working. When used with the old 11 digit MileagePlus Number, the error message indicates "the Method/Function is currently unavailable or may require a newer version of the KVS Tool." OK, so I checked the KVS site and found there is an update to V6.9.6.R1 which resolves the problem above. However, I was not alerted that an update was available. This is the first time that has ever happened. However, UA has issued new MileagePlus Numbers, which are 8 characters long. When the new number is entered, the error message indicates an 11 digit number should be entered. Either way, this method was not working. |

The DotRes method does not work for me, as implied by your KVS tool web site.
The ATP method does not work for me, at least for any route (between Canada and either New Zealand or Australia) dealing with Air New Zealand - I get the message that "no matching fares found" The Galileo method does find the routing rules for economy fares; when I try business class fares, I get the message "no fare in system".

Why can't I find my UA fare?
I'm new to KVS.
I searched for Fares for YYZ-PVG using method "Sabre: Fares/DotRes" and POS of "US", UA inc. codeshare Then I check Availability of L fare on dates (UA with no codeshare), looking each direction individually (finding Sep 12 and Oct 1 return) Then I go to UA site and use those dates, pick the same flight numbers (via SFO out, ORD back), and the fare is L outbound and S return for a total of $1,491.80 Am I doing something wrong? (side note: this was a few hours ago that I ran both KVS and UA searches; I'm just finding time to post now) (update: I just ran it again now and got same results) [KVS Availability Tool 6.9.6/Diamond - Sabre: Fares/DotRes/US] Code:

You have done everything correctly. This looks like a system connectivity issue -- if you use the [Awards-Upgrade/UA] Method to check Availability, you will see that it is showing L0 for your return flights: - what do you mean by system connectivity issue? I tried the awards/upgrade search, and the return availability search again, and get different results? - are you suggesting I should be using the Awards-Upgrade search instead of the Availability search, even though I'm looking for regular cash fares? Always, or under what circumstances? thanks |

Hmm.
So now I see L available for return on UA (2nd leg on Shuttle America dba United Express) but the fare on UA is $1354.80 - is that because of that Shuttle America hop? I suppose the real question is how do I know if that farecode is even available on any days on United? (since L bucket availability could be one of serveral L-fare codes) Even on an ITA Matrix search I'm not seeing under $1250 Sigh, I thought this would simplify things  [KVS Availability Tool 6.9.6/Diamond - ITA: Awards-Upgrades/UA] Code:

That is correct: LLX27DM2 Base Fare ($835) + Fuel Surcharges ($370) + Other Surcharges ($30) + Taxes ($120) comes to a total of ~$1 355.
I don't see anything about a fuel surcharge in the fare rules for the code (neither in KVS nor on UA when I make a dummy booking, including if I click on "View Rules and Restrictions" after selecting the flights). OK wait, now I see it under "additional taxes/fees at the top of the UA trip while booking - though it says $1,237 + 117.80 in fees (yet fees list $372 in fuel surcharge, with a footnote of "some fees listed in originally quoted price"). Isn't the fuel surcharge normally mentioned in the fare rules? grr.... |
KVSTool and 4M
I know this has been touched on in the past - however, KVSTool is clearly showing 4M CS+ availability on the day I want to travel. Yet, when I contact BA to use Avios miles to purchase this award on 4M the agents (all 3 that I've spoken to) adamantly claim that there is no such availability. Is it possible that the KVSTool is wrong?
