Warning you will get sales pitch crap popups

I've paid for the highest level of KVS Tool for 4 years now,
but they aren't getting another Cent out of me if I have to get some bulllcrap sales pitch pop-up about renewing it in the 30 days every single time i open the program.
Do you really have so much contempt for your customers?

I too am getting the renewal message when I start KVS
YOU may characterise it as "some bullcrap sales pitch pop-up"
I characterise it as a useful reminder to me that if I don't act my membership will expire
A single click on the "Hide this message" button and it is gone - until the next time you start KVS. Or you could press the "renew now" button, pay your subscription fee - and the message will disappear:D

This feature has been requested by many KVS Tool members and has been implemented many years ago. It is simply a note that appears in the main KVS Tool window and is not a "pop-up". It will automatically disappear the moment you start any search, so you don't even need to click anything.

Had an interesting experience today. I'm trying to get some awards to Asia nailed down before the July 15 increase. Was looking for a J seat in KVS using the ANA method. Found what I wanted and called Aeroplan. Unavailable. Agent explained that just because the operating carrier has the availability doesn't mean that it's available to AC. OK, I already know that.

Checked AC method (beta?) on KVS and, sure enough, it wasn't available.

Called Aeroplan again, got a different agent. Made the same request. Agent searched for all availability for the city pair and date. The flight I wanted still showed unavailable. Then she said, "Let me try another way." This time she searched by date and flight number and the availability was there!! Grabbed the seat, all set.

I've never heard of this happening before. Does the manner in which the agent requests availability really produce different results? Anyone know anything?

Yes.

The new booking platform that agents are using is 'selective' as to what options are displayed to the agent.

It sounds like your agent went and used the 'old' booking system where they can search by date, airline, and flight number. I didn't think they had access or were allowed to use it anymore. Supervisors have access to the old system. That system will return results with the seats available if they have been released to *A partners via Starnet while the new system may or may not.

Purchased subscription and loving it. Would be great if there was an R space tool, though...
Edit - oops, just read OP...

Is there any update on this, KVS? I'm happy I can use AC now, but AC seems to be delayed (I booked seats yesterday, still showing today, not on ANA tool). Any download link? (Crossover Mac)

This has now been confirmed to be a bug in the CrossOver Mac/Wine product itself (http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Compatibility).

Unfortunately, the Wine volunteer team is unable to provide an ETA on how long it will take them to resolve it, while CrossOver is looking for a sum of $3000 USD+ to fix a bug in their own product.

Therefore, we would encourage all CrossOver users, who have purchased a CrossOver license, to contact its creators to speed things up -- please PM for the appropriate instructions.

Alternatively, you can use one of the other Mac solutions that are not subject to this bug (e.g. Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion): http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Mac

Just tried downloading the KVSTool app for Android and was wondering why the app wants the ability to use my phone to make calls. Is this legitimate?

I think it is probably because it has links inside for the airlines such that when you click on the airline name in search results you can call them.

Indeed, you do have an option to call an Airline in the KVS Tool Mobile Companion and the Android Application:

Rest assured, it will never place any calls, unless specifically requested by the user.

What are your search parameters?

I've tried a few:

LAX-HKG July 18, 2011, 1 seat
LAX-YVR July 18, 2011, 1 seat
YVR-YYZ July 18, 2011, 1 seat

Also same cities on July 30. I'm on 6.2.0.R2. It was working yesterday for these same searches....

Edit: Random. On a whim I closed and reopened KVS and the error went away.... Any possibility that there is something cached in the tool that times out (I tend to just keep KVS open)?

Sounds like the infamous AE Cookies issue -- if it ever happens again, try deleting MSIE Cookies (via Tools -> Internet Options).

KVS Tool retrieves all data in real-time and does not use caching.

I'm a fresher in the air fare searching and KVS using.

No idea about many many items...e.g. what do those fares mean?
e.g. the fare shown below, are they round trip fare or only for the single route HKG-SYD?

In general, yes. However (and I might be wrong on this), I think the fares shown are the base fare only, so taxes, fees, and fuel surcharges are in addition to the fare listed.

I learned this the first day I used KVS and saw J class fares that were $300 less than AA's website. Yes, taxes & fees are additional!

I attempted to use the KVS tool but all I got was what appeared to be a mandatory registration and donation page.
It possible to use the KVS tool to determine if it suits our needs or is the "donation" mandatory?

As best I know, you a use it for 2 months for $15. That would be a trial or for those who travel infrequently and have need for the service for only a limited time.

M&M vs. StarAlliance availability

Love the tool - one question:
I've read that M&M publishes better award availability for its own members than it releases to Star as a whole. However, using the Awards/M&M method returns results termed in YS, CS, and FS. According to the FAQ, these are "normal capacity-restricted Awards" that are "available for redemption across the entire Alliance." However, the availability from Awards/M&M does not match that of Awards/StarAlliance or Awards/AC-StarAlliance for YS, CS, or FS.

Example:
09 MAY 2012, LHR-ZRH 2, seats

Awards/StarAlliance shows FS/ CS- YS- for every nonstop flight
Awards/M&M shows CS+ for every nonstop flight

Do the YS and CS for different methods here mean different things (i.e., different inventory)?

What you are seeing is correct as M&M does, indeed, occasionally provide "better award availability for its own members than it releases to Star as a whole".

The Award Booking Classes are the same (e.g. X/YS); it is the Availability that varies: http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Factors

Got it - it's still X, but the quantity depends who (NH vs. LH) is asking. Thanks!

Welcome to the KVS Tool -- glad you're enjoying your membership!

Rest assured, we will add support for KE Award Availability the moment it becomes possible to do so, as KE is currently the only remaining carrier within Star Alliance/OneWorld/SkyTeam that is not fully supported in the KVS Tool Award Availability searches.
