Any chance of ever implementing the BA reCAPTCHA or is that method totally dead now?
In the meantime, please use one of the other OneWorld Methods ([Awards/QF-OneWorld], [Awards/JL-OneWorld], [Awards/CX-OneWorld]), which provide an equivalent functionality. |

Issues Today?
Anyone else having issues today with the KVS Tool?
I'm getting the following Pop up Data Source Error (L): "Cheap Direct Flights to Australia, New Zealand & More|Qantas" If for some reason(s) for the above error message are unclear, please visit www.KVSTool.com to review the latest system status announcements. Well in doing so I didn't see any messages and I'm running the latest updates already from them. Thx |

Is this a weekly or a monthly limit? 400 is a merge number!

KVS Tool has a 400 queries limit, it seems. But I cannot find out whether that's a daily, weekly, or monthly limit and when it gets reset.
Anybody has any insights? |

Seems like I have all the luck... bumping my own thread of two years ago having googled "KVS Tool down"!
I can't get the mobile site, website or desktop tool to work today. Is there an outage and if planned, until when? Thanks... |

Hmmm thought the temp registration code should be sent in real time. Been waiting a bit now for it and haven't received it yet. Nothing in the spam/junk folder either :[
*Resolved* |
I'm getting the following error message:

Does anyone have any idea what this might be? As KVS does not pay for data there is always a risk that the underlying websites it scrapes data from will change to make it not possible for KVS to use, so any of the advertised KVS features may stop working at any point. |

I am trying to search for SQ award space for Suites on the Jfk-Fra route using the power search feature, however it keeps bringing me back results for standard award space when I am looking for saver award space, I must be missing a setting or something somewhere?

Please ensure that your [Filter] is set to reflect the desired Award Type(s) before starting the [Power Search]. |

It is however its faster to do the search 30 days at a time without having to check it day by day

I think I might have figured it out, it looks like under the filters tab where it says " availability required in classes" and " display only classes " both need to be checked and fare class should be
set to FS on both of them correct? If using the [Awards/SQ] Method, you should also set the [Cabin(s)] option to First only in order to speed-up the Power Search. |
Problems with recent VirtualBox releases
I am not sure if others use Virtual Box, but the most recent versions seem to have bugs that may affect VMs used to run KVS. More specifically, I found that 5.1.8 and 5.0.28 both cause problems with Windows XP SP3 (e.g., network timeouts); for other versions of Windows, YMMV.
If this happens to you, you might want to downgrade back to 5.0.26, which seems to work fine for XP SP3 (and possibly others). |

Indeed.

i'm having an issue with understanding the KVS tool. under the membership types, features summary view, it lists "upgrade availability search" for UA. ok, how is that possible? i thought UA blocked R display by other websites/tools? the examples say that codes for upgrades are O/FS and I/CS, which are the codes for awards, not upgrades. are these being used as surrogates? how is this possible?

then don't list UA on the upgrade availability page. 99.99% of people interested in UA upgrades are looking for R, not A Upgrades...

So what's new with this tool/specialized web browser? I let my subscription lapse after the FAU GTC fisacoand have not kept up since the old thread was closed
|
Karsten Nohl recently stirred the pot uncovering a number of GDS security loopholes at the CCC conference last week. This also went to the press, albeit in the quiet pre/post Xmas phase. Amadeus closed a number of scrapable web channels as a result, which is obviously not good for people who don't pay for GDS access to feed their tools, erm browsers.

Spot on @oliver2002!
Let's declare the 2017 the year of KVS Tool's death... It's long overdue... BTW, most of what Karsten says is not new - Brian Krebs was raising similar issues two years ago https://krebsonsecurity.com/2015/10/...barcode-a-lot/ |
:td:
After 10 years, probably my last subscription due to "fare basis details" and "booking rules" unavailable since too more months. Google flights is more efficiency and free. |
Thanks
I just looked at the KVS website. Seems like availability is only via their own webpage (e.g. no more asking you to create an account on a site you are not eligible for). No idea if KVS is sourcing data legitimately on their own page. The core functionality now seems to be award availability (similar to award nexus)? |
