when searching BA OneWorld Reward , it keep popping up Catcha Verification which even human can't recognize those letter properly !

TennisNoob Jun 7, 2015 10:57 am

On ANA it says no avail award availbility.

On KVS it says it's avail which is confusing.

No, it doesn't. According to the KVS FAQ, the "@" indicates waitlisting (as opposed to the "+" for available seats), so it's the same result as the Web site.

Indeed, the [Awards/BA-OneWorld] Engine may present CAPTCHAs that are difficult to decipher, if you exceed its velocity limits.

Please be sure to download V7.8.0.R1 to ensure the proper processing of CAPTCHAs.

Alternatively, you can use the [Awards/OneWorld] Method (or one of carrier-specific Methods), which do not require CAPTCHAs.

That is correct.

I am using the latest version , never got the CAPTCHAs correctly . Is this processing limit thru ip or BA account based?

It appears to be based on the number of consecutive searches within the same session.

Restarting the KVS Tool will, normally, reset the limit (without the need to solve the CAPTCHA).

Strange results with Awards/CX-One World

Getting some strange results with the Awards/CX-One World engine.

Take, for example, CX581 and CX583 from CTS-HKG on 10 Feb 2016.

The KVS Awards/CX-One World engine claims there are 4 YA+ Priority Awards available (link to screenshot) which would be nice if it were true, but seems pretty unlikely since this is a peak date when the flights are likely to be packed with people returning to HKG after Chinese New Year.

Sure enough, checking on the CX Web site (which is presumably where KVS gets its data from), I find there are no award seats available for either of those flights, even at the highest Priority Award level (link to screenshot).

Perhaps KVS is somehow wrongly interpreting the data it gets from the CX Web site? Shame because I've always found KVS reliable for checking CX availability in the past.

Thanks for reporting the issue.

Following the transition to a 2-tier Priority Awards system, the [Awards/CX-OneWorld] Engine no longer supports direct requests for Priority Award Availability and was reporting false YA+ positives.

Therefore, we have now removed the "Priority Y" option to avoid the display of erroneous results in the KVS Tool.

That's a great shame. Can't the problem be fixed, instead of simply withdrawing this functionality? KVS supports multiple award availability levels for other airlines. Surely this is possible for Cathay as well?

The main reason I subscribed to KVS was to check Cathay award availability for its own frequent flyers, and if you take away Priority Y a major part of that is gone.

Welcome to the w:rolleyes:nderful world of the KVS Tool where your payments are called 'donations' and you stand an excellent chance of not actually getting what you thought you were buying.

As noted above, the previous functionality of searching for CX Priority Y Awards directly has been withdrawn by CX itself (and not by us).

If there is sufficient demand for it from the KVS Tool Members, we will be introducing a new sub-Method for the 2-Tier Priority Y searches in the future.

That would be great, and would make me significantly more likely to renew my KVS subscription. Since Priority Y is where CX award availability differs most greatly from that available through other One World search methods, not being able to accurately search for this very substantially diminishes the value of the Awards/CX-One World engine.

Is there an option for a free trial? Perhaps a day or two just to be able to do sample search? I tried Expert Flyer but they don't find any OneWorld/Qatar award flights. Don't want to spend my money on this and find out it also won't find what I'm looking for.

Thank you

Interpreting AS availability results for Avios (BA) booking

I was looking for AS award availability using the AS method and filtering for availability on AS only. The result I get is:

[KVS Tool 7.8.3/Diamond - Awards/AS-MultiAlliance/US]
Code:

LAX  Los Angeles Intl CA US [KLAX]
SJO  San Jose Metro / Juan Santamaria Intl CR = SJO SYQ [MROC]
SAT  09 Apr 2016 | 2 Seats

Carrier    Flight  From  Depart    To    Arrive    A/C  St  Award Availability
---------  ------  ----  --------  ----  --------  ---  --  ------------------
AS        282    LAX  08:35    SJO  15:30    73G  0  FA+  CS/  WS/  YS+

I was trying to validate this by looking on aa.com but this AS flight doesn't show up there, wondering why.

More importantly will this be bookable using BA Avios. It's a pain to call BA so looking here for answers first. Thanks.

Thanks.

BTW this flight DOES show up as available on Alaska Air's website for 25K miles (where as the AA connections through MIA or DFW show up for 15K).

Ba captcha

I've upgrade to v 7.8.3 and when using the BA method after a few searches I get the CAPTCHA dialogue, it directs me to "resolve" the CAPTCHA in my regular browser and cut/paste the result. When I pressed OK I get following error in the browser window that opens:-
An error occurred:
An internal error occurred: 51A304A51EE0A.ABCD746.7E01DD25

If I re-try nothing happens.

I am running KVS under Crossover and my browser is Safari.

Why is this considered "phantom" availability?

There is currently an issue with the Google CAPTCHAs that may be requested by the [Awards/BA-OneWorld] Engine when a user exceeds its velocity limits.

Please restart the KVS Tool to reset the limit or use the [Awards/QF-OneWorld] Method instead.

Thanks but I did try to re-start the KVS tool and even after 24 hours I get the CAPTCHA on the first search. Unfortunately the QF method does not "see" some OW airlines (e.g. JL, Qatar). I also use AwardNexus and it's BA method does not get the CAPTCHA issue but then it's approach it very different.

Upon further review, we have determined that AS is now actively using a 3-tier Award Level system.

Therefore, we have introduced the support for the new Medium tier (YM) for AS Awards in KVS Tool V7.8.4 (which is now available for download).

Here is the correct Availability display for the flight in question:

[KVS Tool 7.8.4/Diamond - Awards/AS-MultiAlliance/US]
Code:

LAX  Los Angeles Intl CA US [KLAX]
SJO  San Jose Metro / Juan Santamaria Intl CR = SJO SYQ [MROC]

Mobile Tool is down. Any thoughts?

Also, when I tried to access the desktop version, I was directed to download the latest version - which I did, and it works fine, now, but the Mobile Companion is still down.

It seems to be back now.

One of our hosting providers was experiencing intermittent DNS issues earlier on today, which were affecting some of the KVS Tool's functions.

JL flights are not supported by the main [Awards/JL-OneWorld] Engine.

We will be looking into the possibility of introducing an additional sub-Method for it, if there is a sufficient demand from KVS Tool Members.

In the meantime, JL Award Availability continues to be accessible via the [Awards/BA-OneWorld] Method (subject to that Engine's velocity limits).

I saw that availability for A3 is back (which is awesome!) but only if you don't select A3 a the airline field. If you do so, then no availability is shown... How is that possible?

Requests for a specific airline may get routed differently by the system.
We have now made internal adjustments to the KVS Tool Mobile Companion for A3 searches.

Unable to use Awards/CX-One World

I've upgraded to KVS 7.8.4.R1 and entered my new MPC password (double checked its correct on CX.com) but am unable to use Awards/CX-One World.

Everytime I try to do so it returns a Data Source RD-4 error.

All other settings on my machine are unchanged and it had been working fine before I updated to the new version. My cookies are enabled in IE and always have been.

What's wrong?

The [Awards/CX-OneWorld] Method continues to function normally.

Please carefully re-enter your CX MPC Credentials to ensure that they are correct.

I have been running version 7.8.3 for a couple of weeks and today out of the blue the AC-Staralliance method tells me my Aeroplan login/password is incorrect. Nothing has changed.

Ah - I also tried logging onto Aeroplan directly - this seems to be an AP issue.
